The scoop is that the disappearance of Ringnes is due to corporate maneuvering. After Carlsburg bought out Okla, they decided to stop exporting Ringnes to The U.S. because so few locations were importing (the Norway Pavillion being one of them.)
So they replace Ringnes with Carlsberg, which is a product of Denmark, not Norway. I guess they figure we don't know our geography.
Now how do we get Ringnes back........??????? ::MickeyMo

and as I said on the earlier thread - the Carlsberg sold in the US is Canadian (brewed by Molson).

double whammy.

Thats it....I hear a letter writing campaign in the works!:teeth:

Carlsberg is also imported and distributed in the U.S. through a partnership with brewing behemoth Anheuser-Busch.

Thanks for the update. This is going to be a bummer this July. No Ringnes!!!!

On our first trip to Epcot, DH and I each got one of those giant cups of Ringnes and sat on the bench by the water back behind the stand. It was so quiet and peaceful, and became a tradition. Dh is going to be sad when I tell him.

UGH..the better question is how do we get rid of AB...they seem to have their mitts in everything...a choke hold on the state of FL for sure.

We want good beer, We want good beer!!!!

If Ringnes is gone because they don't want to import it, then Disney should find a beer from Norway that does import to the US. My recommendation would be Aass Beer. It's the oldest brewery in Norway, their beer is pretty good, and they import to the US (though currently nothing in Florida).

Maybe I'll write the company and suggest they contact Disney to get a real Norway beer in the Norway pavillion.

Slightly off topic but I'm sure all the beer lovers are reading this thread -

I had lunch in Le Cellier a few weeks back and they had some amazing Canadian beer. It was not moosehead or any of the main stream brews. It had a french name that I couldn't pronouce. I think the brewery was Unibrue or something. Anyway, they tasted just like some of the best belgium beers. There were three flavors of it and they were all excellent. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure they are only served in the resturant. The server said they are sold at the local ABC liquor stores which I did verify to be true.

If any one can provide the name of them that would be great!

What is the source of this scoop? Do we know if the source is based on facts or conjecture? (I'm not saying the scoop is incorrect; I'm just asking about the source.)

A brewery strike in Norway began on May 19, 2004. Rignes is one of the affected brews. For more details, see http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/3729337.stm

I'd like to think that the appearance of Carlsberg at Epcot's Norway pavilion is temporary. I'm holding out hope that Ringnes will return to Epcot when production levels return to normal.

Unibrue is a brewery out of Chambly, Quebec Canada. I've had a couple of their beers before, and some do have that Belgium taste to them. Good stuff. I'm glad to hear that Le Cellier is selling something more interesting than LaBatts these days.

Thanks doug123.

Le Cellier had these which we tried:

La Fin Du Monde, Maudite and I can't remember the other they had.

How do you order something called Aass Beer with a straight face?

Pronounce the first two a's as "ah"--and hope for the best!!
You could also try saying "Oz" and see what happens---

To stray a bit--a local microbrew has a beer they call "Bare Assed Blonde". Mrs. Uncleromulus then told everyone where she worked that Uncleromulus had a bare assed blonde over the weekend:o :o
