Update on my Niece, Sophi

I posted over a week ago that my 1 year old Niece had been sick and when she was at the Doctor they discovered a heart murmur.

Since then we found out from my Mom that heart murmurs are common on her side of the family (3 of 6 kids had them) AND both my Sister and Brother had them. We never knew this because my Mom said the Pediatrician never made a big deal out of it so my Mom didn't worry about it.

Sophi had a scan last week and she does have a heart defect. In one place she is supposed to have 3 valves and only has 2. The Doctors said that it is not something she will have to be concerned with until she is older (retirement age) and her heart has to work harder.

I'm so sorry about your neice. I hope she is feeling better. My son has a heart murmur and so does my mom. She is 73 and still giong strong!

Jenn Lynn, I am so very glad to hear the good news!!! I know a few people who have heart murmurs in my family as well... never affected one of them that I know of. I hope she is feeling better by now

My dad has only two valves in his heart and he is going strong at 66 years old.

Sounds like good news to me. By the time she's retirement age, I'm sure she'll have nothing to worry about with the technology they'll have by then!

Strange about the heart vavles though. Sounds like shes going to be fine though By then theyll have some miracle cure for her Im sure

My Sister is doing fine with the news. I think she is just glad it isn't something really serious.
