Hi everyone, I know it has been awhile since I have posted anything about Allyson, but there really hadn't been any big news to report, until now. There is a little bad news and a lot of good news to share.
The bad news is Allyson was admitted to the hospital last week and put into isolation. She had her triple chemo and it left her totally weak with a very, very high fever. She required blood transfusions because her counts were down so low and she was in isolation for a few days until they came up. She is down to 69 pounds and very, very weak, however her spirits are as high as ever, which I imagine helps to keep her going. She is home from the hospital this week and they will have a break from chemo for a week so that she can build up her strength a little.
Now for the good news. The doctors did an MRI last week and the tumor in her cheek is gone and they are "pretty sure" the tumor surrounding her lymph nodes is gone as well. What wonderful news this is to hear!! They will continue the intensive chemo until the middle of May, so three more months of this and hopefully a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
I thank you all for your continued prayers and inquiries and the kindness you have shown, you guys are the best. It has been a long 6 months for Allyson and her family and this has been the best news to date. The only day better will be the day that they say she is done and she can go on being a little girl again.
