Hi All,
I just got a response from Chef Bob at IOA concerning my 2 boys' milk and egg allergies. Below is his response:

Hi, in Universal Studios We have fruit stands in the parks with apples, oranges, grapes, watermelon on them. Also have lemon slush carts which will be ok, also have turkey legs on carts that are just smoke plain. I have a full service unit it is Lombard's landing I have a chef in that unit have the server bring the chef to the table and he can go over all the things he can do for you In Islands of Adventure we have 2 full service units one called Confisco's and one is Mytho's, I have Chefs in both of those units, have server bring Chef to table and he can go over the things he can do for you,. I have another walk up unit it is Thunder Falls, I have smoke chicken, smoke ribs, and roasted corn on cob and roasted potatoes with fresh herbs and salt and pepper, also have French fries all natural cooked in canola oil that is the only thing cooked in those fryers too. If you need any more information or help feel free to give me a call at 321-388-2123, Chef Bob. I will also say no desserts at all from any of the restaurants too. Thanks Chef Bob
The butterbeer does contain milk but does not contain eggs.

I emailed him back asking what the specific milk protein in butterbeer was and his reply:

It has a sodium casenite which is a milk derivative. Thanks chef Bob

So, butterbeer is out for us for our oldest, but ok for our middle (that should produce some nice jealousy issues:eek:) Alas, better to be safe then leaving IOA by ambulance....

Great find...this should be a sticky since it is asked a lot here. :thumbsup2

Thanks for posting this here. Our sons have multiple food allergies, including life threatening egg, nut and peanut allergies, and I'm not quite at the stage to contact Universal in our planning yet (trip is still over 6 mos off), but it is nice to have some advance info about safe possibilities.

Sorry to hear about the milk in the butterbeer. So tough when one can have a treat that the other can't! Because my sons are identical twins we usually take the one for all and all for one approach, so if butterbeer is off the menu for either of them none of us will be having it. :sad1:
