We had a great talk last night, and he thinks that if we can dog proof the house (read: his computer room), we can bring a new puppy home after I get back from my trip to WDW in April. However, that means I get to start looking now to see if there are any rescue or placement animals, or new litters that may be ready at that time.

I'm going to order a book called "I just got a puppy, what do I do?" by a local dog trainer (he does a show on PBS) to help us be prepared on how to train the new guy.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know the good news!

Hi,
Have you considered a rescue dog? Southbay Purebreed Rescue seems to always have some GREAT dogs.. some pups too...

They have a website http://www.sbprdogs.org/dog_photo_gallery.htm

They have dog fairs too, in fact is right over there off the 85.. Blossom Hill road exit.

Just wanted to let you know this because they often have mini schnauzers.

Congratulations! Have fun with your new pet!

Congrats! Our Bichons are like our "other" kids. The first year can be tough on your carpets and furniture. LOL.

Do you know what breed you want or characteristics (big vs. small, shed vs. nonshed, etc.)?

Aww, puppies are the sweetest things. Can't wait to see a photo :)

It's so much fun getting a new addition to the family. Keep us updated please! And I second that request for pictures.

Congratulations!

This is another vote for you to check out petfinder.org. We found our girl Scottie from it. And many adult dogs are already potty trained! Much easier on the carpet!
