I do not trust Consumer Reports that much. I take what they say with a large block of salt. Years ago they were talking about the reliability of cars. At the time, Mitsubishi, Eagle(Remember them?

), and Chrysler where selling the same car. Eagle was a Chrysler brand. The car was made in the same factory in Normal, Ill. The only difference was the name plate.
Mitsubishi was rated much better than the Chrysler. They were the SAME car, from the same factory, with the same parts, built by the same people yet the "Japanese" car was much rated MUCH better.
Some of the CU ratings are very subjective.
We bought a Dyson Animal 10-15 years ago. For years we had three large dogs, two Goldens and a GSD. A GSD is a German Shepard Dog but I think the real name is German Shedding Dog.
The Dyson has held up very well. Much longer than our previous, rebadged Hoover. I was surprised at how well it has held up since many pieces are a light plastic. The plastic keeps the weight down and is surprisingly strong. We have finished CONCRETE floors and the wife is prone to dropping parts of the Dyson on the floor yet not one part has been broken.
I thought for sure we would have had to buy a new one this year when the Dyson lost vacuum. Turned out there was just a huge amount of small hair dust and dander caught up in the Dyson. After some very nasty cleaning, the Dyson was back to normal.
When this Dyson dies we will get another one.
Later,
Dan
