Upcoming refurbs for WDW

Please bear with me when asking this but how far in advance does WDW usually post what rides will go down for refurb? Reason I am asking is this. Peter Pan is my most favorite ride ever. However, I have not been able to ride it at any of the Disney parks for the last 15 years because whenever I go, it's down for refurb! I was actually happy to see it would be up and running for my DL trip for the 24 hr event - just to be disappointed that they pushed back the opening date to July 1st. Now I have a business trip coming up to Orlando next year May (I know, I know, still about a year away) but I am seriously considering extending the trip just go to MK to do Peter Pan - given that it's actually open. So when would be a good time to find out if it's open or not? I have to get a lot of approval done if I want to extend since this will be international travel and I might just bring my family along for the extension but I would need to know if it's worth going through all the trouble of getting approval if Peter Pan isn't open.

And yes, we would be going only if Peter Pan is open. It's the one ride I'd do all this approval thing for since I haven't been on for 15 years :earsboy:

Definitely no way of knowing whether Peter Pan would be running next May.

It's not a ride that needs a lenghty annual refurbishment. If you haven't been able to ride in the past 15 years, then that is some EXTREMELY bad luck.

Agreed. Best source I've found for this kind of info in my opinion is wdwmagic.com. I'd keep an eye on that site.

Plus, the interactive queue is already done. So, another lengthy refurbishment seams unlikely.

Thanks for the info. I didn't need to know right now. I was just wondering how far in advance they usually say when they close down attractions so I could time preparations wisely. I wouldn't want to book everything just to find out two weeks later than they'll close it. The earlier I book, the better deal we get. So I was just wondering if they put out the info 6 months ahead, 3 months ahead or short notice. Or if there was any pattern to when they announce such things at all.

And yes, we do seem to have bad luck when it comes to this. Lengthy refurb or not, we always happened to pick a time when it was closed :/

We were there in March, and they closed several rides (including Peter Pan) for short refurbs -- 2 or 3 days only -- but the closures weren't posted until around a month before. Honestly, they can refurb rides at any time, and even once the refurbs are announced, it's common for the dates to change.
