Upcoming DLR trip in June - questions!

Thanks for all the great responses, they have been very helpful. I think we are mostly covered, but a couple items got lost in the MaxPass discussion, and I wanted to know if there was any additional feedback on them.

My issues:
1. MaxPass just for my son and me to save $10 per day? - seems covered. Could do it this way, but may add my wife... might do it differently on different days, too. I understand the options!
2. Need a Dining Package for PTNP? - seems like we do not. Just find a spot along the parade route, and a Dining Package is not needed. Dessert package is $79 x 3... ouch. However, we WOULD pay for the Wine Country Lunch if it saved us some time and got us a good spot... wife and I have done Dining Packages for WOC and F! at WDW, and are glad we did both.
3. Plan for Together Forever Fireworks viewing? - will shoot for halfway down Main Street, close-ish to castle, just like everybody else ;)... with a 9:30 show, when will we realistically have to do this?
4. Schedule for PTNP & Fireworks - try for fireworks on first night, depending on weather. If we aren't getting a Dining Package, we are much more flexible on this anyway. How far in advance do they announce if fireworks are cancelled?
5. Grad night impact - sounds like we can put up with it and don't need to plan all that differently.

Honestly, no one's REALLY going to know about 2-4 until those shows actually start. Like, I concur that I do not think a dining package for PTN is necessary, but maybe the parade will start and be way more insane than anyone anticipates and/or the dining package area will be really prime or a super-great upgrade or whatever... you know? So I think you're going to get better answers there once the new fireworks and parade schedule actually starts.

I have literally been there multiple times where they don't announce it until they are about to start. The winds change so frequently, they really try to wait until the last moment to make a decision. So sometimes you wait and hour or more for nothing. Just how it goes, but probably not the answer you were hoping for!

They typically don't announce fireworks cancellations until showtime it maybe 5 min before.

I've even heard of cases where they actually start the fireworks and then stop them a few minutes in because wind picked up. It's pretty unpredictable. I've seen people say to watch the high up treetops and low clouds to see signs of wind to make a guess if fireworks will be canceled, since sometimes there's no wind at ground level but there is at firework level.

Thanks again for the info/replies. From the replies and reading other posts (like HydroGuy's guides), it sounds like there's much less planning necessary at DLR compared to WDW. We can go with the flow a little bit more and won't be missing out. The only thing I was really concerned about was the Dining Package for the PTNP parade, as that requires a reservation (and therefore some planning), but if we don't need that, then I will just know what our options are and keep an open mind while we are there. MaxPass will certainly help, and with 3 days we will surely have time to cover everything. The fireworks sound like a crapshoot, so we will keep that in mind and plan accordingly. Thanks again!
