I just wanted to let everyone know about an upcoming crop weekend at Disney's Contemporary Hotel. It's three days beginning Friday August 13 till Sunday August 15. It's presented by Dream Events, Inc. and is called Scrappers Dream Vacation(a/k/a SDV) thoughout the easter US. Since the 2004 crop was set for the closed Hyatt, a new location was found. Yeah!

I attended their crop last August at the Holiday Inn on International Drive. To say we had a blast is an understatment! We meet new friends, saw too many new ideas to remember and cropped until we couldn't see straight!!:earseek: The host of the event Dale and Nancy are fantastic. I lost a newly purchased Mickey Mouse Pen during the crop. I went to them and asked if anyone turned it in.....during clean up they found it and mailed it to me.

The link to their site is:
Scrappers Dream Vacation

Registration is due to open at the end of the month. We have a group of @ 6-8 attending from West Palm Beach. If anyone has any questions about the event, I'd be happy to try to answer. I'm just a fan and am not compensated for passing this information on to you.

How much does this cost ? I cant find any prices anywhere on there web page.

Do you know if an 11 year old can come and scrap?

You're correct, they haven't posted the prices yet. That may not be available until they open the registration...probably end of April beginning of May.

Last year the cost was @$280 for the "early bird" weekend. That was a double occupancy for Thursday, Friday & Saturday. It was held at the Holiday Inn on International Dr.

We're hoping the cost is close to the $300 mark. If higher I'll have to sell some unused scrapbook supplies on ebay!

I can't answer the question about your daughter. One woman had a newborn infant with her. The baby was very quiet, she only cropped for an hour or two at time and left immediately if the baby started to be restless. One of the vendors had his 12-14 year old son helping most of the time. You might try emailing Nancy or Dale for an answer.

I was hoping I could bring my DD. Not have her scrap but stick around with me for a few hours then take her into the parks.

I didnt want to pay for the SDV package for 2. I will have to write them and ask.

thank you

Just wanted to share that the schedule and package cost have been posted for this event!:hyper: The cost is almost the same for the August 2004 at the Contemporary as it was at the Holiday Inn on Internation last year.

Like I said in my earlier message, I'm not affliated with them, but had a fantastic time last year.

Can't wait until May 11 to register!!

I did the SDV in Massachusetts last June - Dale & Nancy are great. Go & have a wonderful time!

Anyone else attending from the DIS boards? We have a group of 8 going from both sides of Florida!

Nealymouse - did you decide to attend?

Is there still space available? I think it would be nice to go.. but I am not thrilled about bringing all my gear down .. oh airport security would love me! lol :teeth:

Also.. do most people plan out what they are going to scrap ahead of time? As much as I would like to get alot done.. I am easliy distracted... and tend to take forever to get through one page.. I spend alot of time planning a page, looking for just the right things, and making things just so.. I am not the kind of person who can "scrap just to get it done" I have a small fear of going to scrap-athons.. because I don't think I could get anything done :) Will they have classes and demo's? Maybe I would meet a power scrapper and learn a few things!!

Thanks for the info!

I attended an SDV in New Jersey this past winter and absolutely loved it. People were so nice and we got so much done. We did look around at other peoples' ideas, but I think that is part of the fun and learning experience. Yes, people do plan things out in advance. I'm not very good at that so I'm hesitant to fly to an SDV. See if there are vendors posted on the website. If there are good vendors you could probably get away without bringing paper for instance. I would love to do an SDV in Orlando, but right now my family would kill me if I did. They would be jealous if I went without them. I also would have a hard time balancing the scrapping and the parks. I'm too compulsive about both.:( Maybe next year.;)

No I wont be able to go this year. Hoping for next year. I bought a piece of rental property and really need to get the apartment rented before I spend anymore money LOL

I agree with kaygela, it was so much fun just walking around and looking at everyones LO. There are classes offered and some different swaps. As far as I can tell from the website, there are still openings.

I did see on their message board that the crop will be 4 days next year and will be towards the end of the month rather than in the middle. Kids here in Palm Beach County start school on August 11, so it's tough for some Mom's and most teachers to get away for that first weekend. My son is 14 and starting high school, so at least I'll be around for the first two mornings...he has to catch the bus at 5:55 AM. Yuck!!
