We have friends going to visit family in Florida, the family is buying them the 4 day passes for 99.00. My question is can they up grade these tickets the same way you would a regular ticket? They are planning on staying for 10 or 11 days. Trying to help them save a few bucks!!:thumbsup2 Thanks!!! Breeze

They actually may have a bit of a problem. The $99 4 day passes are for Florida residents only and Disney will need to see the ID's of everyone who will be using the passes (not just ID of the person who purchases the tickets). It's not possible for a FL resident to purchase FL resident tickets and give them to a non Florida resident.

Now, that said, those tickets are upgradable, but you'll only get credit for the $99 that was paid for them. If they wanted to upgrade to a 10 day base ticket they would pay $144 (the $243 cost of the 10 day ticket minus the $99 credit from the 4 day ticket). Frankly, this would work whether they were FL residents or not as Disney would force them to upgrade to a non FL resident ticket if they showed up with a FL resident ticket and no FL ID. They would still get the credit for the cost of the FL resident ticket that they had, though.

Honestly, though, the best way for them to save a bit of money on the tickets is to just purchase them from a discounted ticket seller like Undercover Tourist. You won't save a lot... maybe $5-$30 per ticket, depending on what options and how many days you get, but any savings is better than none:)

As the PP mentioned, having someone in Florida buy FL res tickets for a non-FL person is not saving them any money at all - Disney won't let them use the FL tickets and they'll have to pay the price difference anyway.

Try undercover tourist or see if their company offers a discount on tickets through work, etc. Otherwise just buy the regular tickets because that's what they'll have to do at the gate if not.

These are the official rules:

Florida Resident tickets are only available to actual Florida Residents and cannot be purchased for out-of-state family or friends.

An adult Florida Resident may purchase Florida Resident media for more than one Florida Resident from any location that provides an exchange certificate and not an actual ticket.

Children under the age of 18 are not required to provide proof of Florida residency if they are accompanied by an adult with valid proof of Florida residency

If the Guest has an exchange certificate, a valid form of Florida ID will be required when the exchange certificate is redeemed for the actual pass

One ticket only per valid proof of Florida residence (a Florida resident may buy tickets for minors in the party)

Exchange Certificates may say:

"After sale..., may not be transferred except as a gift." This means that the certificate may be given as a gift, so long as the recipient meets the defined Florida residency criteria.

"Purchase and redemption of this exchange certificate requires proof of Florida Residency."

The following items are the only documents accepted as proof of Florida Residency:
* Valid Florida State Drivers License
* Valid Florida State issued ID Card with Florida Address
* Valid Florida Voter’s Registration Card with the Guest's name and address with corresponding photo ID
* Valid Florida University / College Student ID
* Valid Military ID stationed at one of the Florida Military Bases listed below:
(List of bases removed as unneeded)
For Part-Year Residents the following original documents are acceptable.

Note that fax and photocopies are not acceptable, that bills and mail cannot be more than two months old, that PO Box addresses are not allowed, and items related to TimeShares are not permitted.
Must have a driver's license or state photo ID card from another state, or a non-US Passport and at least one of the following items which does show a Florida address:
* Proof of Rent, Mortgage or Ownership such as a Deed, mortgage, monthly mortgage statement, mortgage payment booklet or residential lease.
* Current homeowner's insurance policy or bill, current automobile insurance policy or bill or current utility bill.
* Statement from a financial institution showing checking, savings, credit card or investment information or mail from a Federal or Florida State, County or City government agency.

There is a military ticket deal where active duty military people can buy up to 6 tickets for $99 and those can be given to anyone. But FL resident tickets cannot be given to people from other states.
