up early on last day? Non US Citizans

It really isn't that bad. Lots of sleepy kids though! The line up moves very quickly and since you have already passed through customs leaving the terminal is a breeze. We had early dining seating so we went to our last breakfast in the dining room.

Everyone does have to show up though so you have to get your kids up but not necessarily dressed for it. Each family goes up together so it doesn't take long.

Many thanks to all of you for your replys.

I am sure the extra stay at wdw after will make up for one very early morning.

Regards

Sue

Hi I am also a Canadian with a green card - my DH and DS's are all American citizens - do I have to get up early too?

april -

I'm in the same boat  as you are. I still dont have a clear answer on this. I refuse to leave the boat myself without my wife.

Please let me know if you find an answer.

StuartMI - we are driving back to NC so DH will probably want an early start - I asked earlier - if I had to go into a different line since I had read that non-Americans had a separate line at check-in and yes we do but was told that the line is much shorter and that DH and DS's are also able to check in the same line. By the way I grew up in Sarnia (Go Mike Weir) what part of Canada are you from?

StuartMI

You will not have to leave the ship without your wife!!!!

You will both be able to walk out the door along with all of the rest of the passengers. There are no separate lines to disembark the ship. There are no lines per se. You just get off when you are ready.

april riddle, I am from Chatham

Well I am a Canadian Citizen however I am a permanent resident of the US.

Does the non-US citizen immigration mean just that, or are they talking about people that are just in the country on visas/vacations/etc?

If not, DW and myself are going to have to go to different immigration queues which since it will be our first time is going to really stink.

You will have to do the early bird thing. Only US citizens do not have to appear.

I have a green card, my husband and kids are US citizen, we were able to all check in together in the non-US citizen line at port canaveral, and I was the only one who had to clear immigration on the last day, it really is no big deal, and went very fast.....

Whilst the line was quick, I still would recommend they have a USA Imigration officer, join the cruise at Casterway cay and undertake customs on the last evening.

On princess cruise they did this and so it is possible, it might cost a little bit more, DCL pay for an officer to be on board and buy him or her a drink, but it would make the last day better.

Disney remmber the ones going to immigration, are the ones most likly to travel the most home!!

My two comments on this: I am thankful that on my DCL cruises, all of the people that needed to present to immigration did so at the requested time. At debarkation on RCCL recently, they kept announcing several names to report to the location that immigration was. It held up everyone getting off the ship. Second: as someone said earlier, for those with long waits at the airport day rooms are available at the Hyatt (at the airport) if you want a quiet place to stay (& rest). Maybe 2 families could go intogether to share the cost (after all, you aren't staying over night, just resting, watching TV, maybe using the pool).
Third(I know, I said 2 comments): I like the idea of the immigration official coming aboard the day before (I bet they would like that idea also)

My DH said the reason they can't come aboard after CC is that the ship is still at sea -- in international waters. If something were to happen and they had to dock quickly at another island, then people would have their passports and be able to leave the ship and the area. That's why they have to be on US soil before handing back the passports.

Just my two cents....

When we went on the RCCL last year, we were given our passports back the last night of the cruise.

We only had to show up at guest services during certain hours and they were just handed back to us. No immigration officers were needed to get our passports back.

St. Catharines. Nice place to visit, but I'm glad I don't live there anymore. :teeth:

Thanks everyone, you have quelled all of my concerns on that which was stressing me out.

Yes, the long wait at Orlando airport is a nightmare isnt it? I think its time they provided more facilities for families especially - who have an evening flight. We have spent 32 hrs at MCO after cruising so far, as we use the Disney Buses from Cape C., which get you to the MCO very early. Unless you have 100s of $s leftover to spend at the VERY limited shops, its a dreadfully dull place to wait. Unfortunately, there isnt sufficient time to go to the parks or venture far.
We always while away the hours in the lobby of the Hyatt (up the escalator next to the security gate) with a cocktail or 6 :teeth: . Also, McCoys Bar and Grill (in the far corner of the lobby) isn't bad and, if you get a window seat, you can watch the aircraft taking off and landing.

I have been on two P&O Princess cruises and that gave back your passports at sea on the last night, you just had to go to a location anytime between 6pm and 10pm.

They assumed by then whatever happened you would go to a USA port. The officers must have come on at the last port of call.

It was so much better.
