Unusual FP+ Question

I am going to be visiting Magic Kingdom on August 14th on a Convention ticket (entry at 5pm). The park is open until 10pm so I was able to book 3 fast passes in advance. I am going alone so pretty much everything was available when I initially booked. Now my question! If I use my first FP and still have say 40 minutes until my next FP, will I be able to modify the 2nd FP for an earlier time? I want to be able to maximize as many rides as possible in the short time frame I have. It's been suggested that I only book a single FP to start and then just keep booking over and over but I figured if I can simply modify the 3 I have then I can keep those on reserve in the event the park is just jam packed and out of any FP selections. Has anyone tried this before? Are you locked into that 1 hour window for the first 3 FP's or can they be modified once you use the first? Thanks so much! (Apologies if this has been asked before but I wasn't able to find it in any of the FAQ threads.)

Definitely, I do it all the time. And as soon as the third one is scanned and if you have time, start checking for additional FPs in the line before getting on the attraction, waiting until after the ride wastes valuable FP booking time to get as many extra ones as you possibly can.
