I'm going to be staying at the BCV with my DD next week. I'm tempted to add the dining plan but I have a question that I'm hoping someone can answer. Here's the scenario. We have a friend in Orlando who will be joining us for dinner from time to time. I'd like to request a resort ID for him when we arrive at BCV so if he and my DD want to go for a swim, he can use the pool.

I know that if you get the Dining Plan you need to get it for everyone in your party. He's going to be working full time during the day and won't be staying with us. Will it cause a problem if I get him a Resort ID when we arrive? Will I be forced to add him to the dining plan? If that's the case, we simply won't add it but I'd like to know in advance rather than run into a problem at check-in.

I'm hoping someone has had a similar situation and can offer advice. Thanks!!

All members of your reservation need to be on the Dining Plan, so I suspect you will have a problem. However, I have not personally asked them about it. That would probably be your best bet: Call Member Services and ask. Get whatever answer you receive in writing on letterhead, so you don't have a problem at check-in.

Thank you Happy, that's the information I was looking for.

I think I'll simply use my Disney Dining Experience discount for this trip. :)

YMMV, but this is my experience:
DH & i were staying at the BW (in a studio with DDP), checking out on a fri.
on our check-out day, my parents, brother & his family checked into a BW 2-bdrm, with DDP.
after they checked-in, i asked for a room key (i was staying in their room for 3 of their 8 days without DDP, DH was going home).
of course, i did ask MS in advance if it was OK, & they assured me it was & explained that i would need to ask AFTER check-in.

don't know if it mattered that i am the DVC member, but i would certainly call MS & ask ~ it cant hurt :)

I am not fussing at you just stating facts. This is contrary to the rules as written but c/w what I've seen from others. It falls under the YMMV rule. I am surprised MS volunteered this way to get around the rules.
