I was planning on ordering a few 10 day non Exp hopper passes from UT before they are gone for good, and was wondering if linked with FP+, would those days be counted, or only by physically entering into the park?

Does anyone have experience with this?

I'm not entirely understanding the question.

Right now, you have to be staying at a Disney resort to make advanced FP+ selections. And you can only make them for the days of your reservation (AP holders have a special exemption), up to the limit of days on your ticket. So if you have a 6-day reservation, and a 10-day ticket, you can make 6 days worth of FP+ selections. If you have a 10-day reservation, and an 6-day ticket, you can make 6 days worth of FP+ selections. There _MAY_ be an upper limit on total FP+ days outstanding - some are hitting a 7-day limit.

The No Expiration status of the ticket should not matter in this regard.

When FP+ becomes fully available to non-resort guests, and you are allowed to make advanced FP+ reservations, you'll still be limited to the number of available days on the ticket.

We just arrived in disney. I am on my way to days customer service. We are off site.
The cm td me to register my non exp tickets and choose my fp+. Is this possible now?

No, unless you are staying at the Swan/Dolphin. Rumor has it that all guests at the Animal Kingdom might next week.

This isn't true. We just stayed 3-nights at AKL and I have a 10-day non-expire. When I look on MDE now, I can make FP+ reservations for any day I want, as if it were an AP. So, because I stayed onsite, got an MB and linked my tickets, I can now stay offsite and still make FP+ with my non-expire tickets. My limit is most likely 8 days (as I only have 8 days left on my FP+), but every day is open to me right now - offsite or on.

OK, new info...thanks. It appears that at least a No Expiration ticket gets "unlocked" similarly to Annual Passes.

Trust me - I was pretty shocked by this myself and it actually brought up so many questions for me about people booking FP+ for days "just in case" when they had perhaps no intention of ever showing up at the park. I discovered that I had this ability by accident when I checked to see if I could make FP+ reservations for an upcoming trip in Feb. I was too early for our actual trip dates, but could make FP+ reservations from now until mid-Feb.! I, too, thought I needed an onsite reservation to do it - nope! This whole thing is a confusing mess.

I am planning for my trip in January. I was planning on purchasing UT tickets for the trip, linking them to MDE and then selecting FP+ rides, I stay on property and my trip is a split AKV/BWV stay both which are participating with the magic bands and FP+. My question was, if I made FP+ selections, and then decided not to go to the park, would the day be taken off the pass, or do I need to physically enter the park for the day to be "used"

If you decide not to go to the park, the best thing to do is cancel your FP+ selections for that day. Then there is no question. :) And it releases the slots for someone else to use.

I don't _think_ it would affect the number of days you can book FP+ for, since you don't actually lose a day on the ticket.

Reread: Ah, you think it will cost you a day on the ticket...no. You don't use a day unless you actually enter a park.

Selecting FP+ doesn't use a day of your ticket. Only entering the park does that. Selecting FP+ if you don't go "only" screws the people that do go that day by using up those FP+ slots.

Your single selections don't really make a difference, don't get me wrong. But if 5,000 families of four do this, for a total of 20k FP selections on a given day- that's a big chuck of the available FP+ for the whole day on a low capacity ride. Yet another illustration of why this system is nowhere near ready for "prime time."

Don't you think this is happening now? I mean people making FP + just in case they MIGHT use them that day. I can't know for sure where I will be each hour of my vacation this far in advance - not even sure which PARK I will be in each day. I don't know how anyone else can. I would think a large percentage of FP+ will go unused.

And if that happens:

1) The standby line will go faster

or

2) Disney will expect it, and add more slots to compensate

Unfortunately I got sick and was unable to make my trip, let alone make any FP+ reservations...

I am excited to try it during my next trip :) And am still considering purchasing the 10day passes while they still are available...does anyone have 10day non exp and find them worth it?

I don't think anyone has actually tried this with a limited length pass, but here is what I fully expect...if you make FP+ reservations, but don't enter the park that day:

- You don't lose a day on the pass. They would have LOTS of angry guests if you did.
- You don't lose a day of FP+ reservations. However, you won't be able to make another day's reservations until the ones that were missed completely expire at the end of that park day. That is, if you have a 5 day ticket, you can book 5 days of FP+ in advance. If for some reason you don't make it to the park the first day as expected, the FP+ reservations you have will expire at the end of the day. After they expired, you can then make another day's FP+ reservations to bring the total back up to 5 (or whatever number of days remain on the ticket)

I don't see this as any sort of problem even with non-expiring tickets, because you can only make a limited number of reservations anyways. All the speculation about people eating up all the slots on speculation that they _might_ go to a particular park for the next X days I think is highly, highly unlikely.

Depends on what your trips generally look like...do you do lots of one or two day visits? Or do you stay for longer periods of time? Do you take more than one trip a year? Do you do the water parks/DQ/etc.?

The biggest problem with them is that you need to fit two or more trips completely within the 10 days. If you have to purchase an additional ticket to complete a vacation, you generally end up spending more than if you just purchased the right length tickets. Although if you plan to make lots of trips in the future, a valid method of using them is what I call "chaining" the tickets - when you need additional days, just get another 10-day NE ticket, and start using that, and then another, and then another...

If getting a No Expiration ticket, I highly recommend getting the WPFM option (at least on the first one if chaining), as those options don't expire either, even after all the days are used. On a 10-day NE WPFM ticket, you get 10 water park/DQ/etc. visits as well, which can last some people many trips...even when they now have switched to other ticket for regular park admission.

Also if your trips can fall within a calendar year, an Annual Pass can generally be a better deal than a NE ticket. APs come with free parking at the parks, free park hopping, merchandise and dining discounts, etc.

In general, if you park hop and would visit 12 or more days a year (been a while since I've checked the exact number), the AP is the better deal not even including the other perks.
