Unusal trip ending...

Hi,

We have a 16 stay in WDW scheduled for Dec ending on 16th. But we can't justify getting 21 day passes, only 14 day passes (we're UK so the ticketing is slightly different) which leaves us with a problem.

On our first full day we plan to relax in AKL, go to Disney Springs and maybe head over to the Fantasia mini-golf if we feel like it. But IF we want to access the parks on our last day (departure day) that means we can't go to the parks on our second day, either. My problem with this is that we could have a full day access on that day, instead of just a few hours on departure day, but I feel really sad about not saying 'goodbye' to the Magic Kingdom on the day we leave.

DME will probably collect us around 2.30pm to return to the airport so it seems a waste to forfeit a full day of park access on our second day, for just a few hours on our last day. What would you do? If you couldn't go to parks on your last day, what would you do instead? Would it make you sad that you couldn't go?

The reason this wasn't an expected issue was because we planned to go to Universal for the first 2 days of our trip, leaving 14 days in Disney and 14 days of tickets. But we now don't have the mountain of cash required for 2 days in universal (cabs, tickets, food, tips etc) hence the issue coming up.

No last partial day.

BTW, we often forego entering a park on our first and last day if we max out a 10-day US ticket
for a 12-day trip.

That last partial day is too costly if it requires buying a separate one-day ticket. $$$$

We usually have a character breakfast if we have afternoon flight. This August we have early evening flight so we plan to spend half day at the park.

If you really want to visit the park on your last day, I wonder whether you would consider attending MVMCP during your visit. It would be fun and may worth the extra cost of the party tickets and save one admission for the last day.

We do not go to the parks on our departure day. With final packing, last minute things, breakfast, etc., we seem to have plenty to do. We do always spend at least part of our final day at MK, so that is our farewell, even if we hop to another park afterward. I would not forego a full day early on for a few hours at the end. But, that is only my opinion! Try to decide what will bring you the most happiness and do that, whether it makes sense to others or not.

We don't go into the parks on our last day and our DME pick-up time is always between 11:30 am - 1:00 pm. Instead, we spend a leisurely morning at our resort (BLT/CR) before going downstairs or hopping on the monorail for a late character breakfast. If we've hours to spare after that, I'll typically take my daughter to the pool for a quick swim before it's time to go.

I don't like the feeling of being rushed, and I fear that's what I'd feel if we were to go to a park on our departure day. I'd rather memories of a fantastic last night over memories of a hectic morning spent stressing about the time.

We're driving but, our first and last days are non-park. Disney Springs to start and our last will be the Bon Voyage breakfast before we start the long drive home.

We prefer to not be under the gun with a timetable on travel days. It ends up being a little stressful and I'm not interested in beginning or ending our trip with that vibe

We never visit a park on our last day because we usually have a mid-afternoon flight and don't want to be rushed. We'll do a character breakfast at a resort or spend an hour or two at the pool, then pack up and get ready for our DME ride to the airport.

When we fly I prefer to head to the airport early to do some shopping. Any time besides that we spend at whatever resort we're staying at to have a meal and visit the gift shop. We pretty much do the same when we drive but we leave fairly early.

One time we spent the morning in a waterpark. That was fun but tiring.

The OP has 14-day United Kingdom tickets.
All park entries must be used in 14 days (some say 15 days.)
If they DO allow the tickets to be used for 15 days, if the OP does not go
into a park on the first day, this might work.

Again, it would depend on if Disney allows the tickets to be used over a 15-day period.

Agree with Anniefrances and Geraldine. With a 2+ week trip, I'd bet that you may be happy with a day somewhere mid-trip to hang at the resort, explore other resorts, check out Disney Springs, use the pools, or otherwise have some down time.

I totally understand your need to say goodbye to the parks on your last day-we do the same! If you're heading to the airport at 2:30, that should be plenty of time to have a good few hours in the park.

Swim! you can either swim for an hour and then check out, or bring clothes to change into after check out. And yes, I have done this in December.

This wouldn't work. The ticket would expire 14 days after first use. Whether OP uses it on the first day or second day there, the 16th day is after expiration.

Do you have the WPF&M option?

Ah! Okay, thanks for explaining - now I get it. In that case, I would schedule a late ADR for Boma on departure day. Their breakfast offering is exceptional, and this is our own departure day ritual. Sometimes we also sneak in a quick stop at Disney Springs to visit Goofy's Candy Company for some snacks to bring home.
