Unsure what to do...

Our plan was the Gulf Coast for 1 week in October... stretching it to maybe 9 days (time off from work is not an issue.. nor is school). Well then I got the bright idea to surprise the kids with a 3 day stay at Disney the end (or beginning) of the vacation. Just one day at Typhoon Lagoon and then one full day at MK and then home the next day... or onto the house we rented on the Gulf if we do Disney first.

Then I saw the kids faces looking at our previous Disney trips pictures (02 and 03) and watching the DVD Dis sent. Hubby and I already planned a 3 day trip for just us to the Gulf since we had to cancel our 10th anniversary trip last year due to my dads illness. So we will get the Gulf trip I want. I am thinking if we stick with that for just us... and then do 1 wk at Disney for the kids. They would love it (10, 8, 6, 3). We were looking at October but when I logged in, and went to the dis website, I saw the 5night/6 day WITH dining for very reasonable. Its for only 4 but I would just buy 2 extra tickets for the other 2 kids. I called about staying at an All Stars hotel with 6 and they said that since my kids were small enough, they would let us use 1 room... kids sharing a bed. This would be the only way I could spring a full week at Disney. The value resort and the free dining. For the 6 days, it would cost us $1800 for the tickets, room and food. And then $900 for airfare. I am looking at $2700. Thats kind of a lot for a family of 6 but so worth it. It would all be cash upfront. OR... if we did just the Gulf coast, then added on just a bit of Disney at the beginning or end, we could go all out with a NICE Disney vacation next year and stay at a nicer hotel.
HELP!?! I cant figure out what to do! I can come up with the $2700 for Disney . But we are looking at around $2200 not including food if we stay on the beach and then just 3 days of Disney. So its not a huge price difference really.

UGHHH sorry but I am just so confused! Steph

If it were me, and it's not, I would just do a little Disney this year and enjoy the Gulf Coast. The kids will have a great time, you and dh will enjoy the beach, and the kids will love the beach. Then, once you get back, I'd start planning a fantastic trip for next year. :woohoo:

I'm not sure why you were told that your family of six could all stay in a value resort room. :confused3 I didn't think that the tickets would load for that many people on a value room. I could understand if you had a couple under three, but since you would be paying for everyone to admit, I'm not sure that this could be done.

What do I know? ;) I'd stick with original plans and have a great time!

That the dining plan and park tickets would only be included for 4 of the 6... I would have to buy separate tickets for the other 2 kids. Since my income is mostly for extras (presents, vacations, etc) I figure if I wait until next year, we can go all out and the kids will still be a great age to enjoy it! This year, I would have to bump up our dates to late August to enjoy the free dining and I would have to stay at a value resort (no offense to anyone, we loved ASM last time!). But if I wait til next year to do an all out Disney vacation, we would have around 10 days... and I can afford to go with something like the Poly or Contemporary. It would give me a year+ to save for it (and bringing in just on my income, $400 per week...that is a nice chunk of change to put away). We choose not to use credit for anything but our mortage so everything has to be paid in cash.

I thought the max occupancy for a Value was 4 (unless an extra was under 2) :confused3

Plus, you said you were getting the dining -- how would your other two get the dining?? Everyone in the same room has to be on the same package, so you *couldn't* say give 6 of us dining but I am only buying 4 tickets.

I think maybe someone misunderstood where you wanted to stay or how many kiddos you were taking?

I am really confused as to how this would work with 6 in a Value, dining for 6, yet only buying 4 tickets through the package and two additional, etc.

Very confusing

I'm not sure who you talked to, but you can't have 6 in a regular value room. You would have to get a suite at All Star Music, or two regular rooms, or you could do one room at Port Orleans Riverside since one of your kids is 3.

We did 6 of us in ASM back in 03, but one kid was only 6w at the time.

As for this time, I would just pay separately for the other 2 kids not on the plan.

But its good to know that we indeed cant do a regular room for 6 of us, that makes my decision so much easier! I called the regular Reservation line and asked the ?, that was the answer she gave me when I asked.

Oh well, Steph
