Here's my dilemma:
My boyfriend is a Chicken Parmesan connoisseur...he loves it and get's it ever where we go. This is his first trip to Disney and I wanted to take him to Mama Melrose so he can get his favorite dish. He said he doesn't want to eat "theme park" pasta and he would rather go to 50's Prime Time after looking through the menus. If he will be disappointed, then I think he's right and 5PT is a better option. Please, please, please tell me your honest opinion of Mama Melrose's Chicken Parm and if you feel that it's worth it. Thanks!!

Also...should I take atmosphere into consideration. I think he would have a blast at 5PT. Then again...it is chicken parm. If it's really good, then I can prove my point that Disney is not "theme park food".

I love chicken parm. I wouldn't say I'm a connoisseur, but I know what I like. Last year our family ate at Mama Melrose, the chicken parm was excellent. The atmosphere isn't exactly old style Italian, but it was very pleasant. I would have recommended Alfredo's, however Disney didn't renew their contract and I have no idea how the new place is. Additionally, I don't even know if they had chicken parm! Good luck.

I was at Mama Melrose in Feb and although I didn't order it two people in our group did and they both loved it.... overall we really like this place

My DH had the chicken parmesan when we were at Mama Melrose in September of last year and he absolutely loved it.

DH loves chicken parm...orders it alot...he was very disappointed in Mama Melrose, he said it was very very bland

I would say skip MM's Disney just does not do Italian well and if he always orders it I would say chances are he will be disappointed. Last time we went we didn't order the chicken parm but the pasta was mush and the sauce undercooked. It gave all of us heartburn.

My whole family loves the chicken parm here. We have gone to Mama Melrose for the past few trips and I have gotten it each time (haha I know I'm boring...but I love it!)

The chicken parm at Mama Melrose is horrible. Chicken piece is dry and the whole thing tastes like they just threw it on some over-cooked spaghetti noodles and poured some Prego on it...Not very well done at all.

I too love Chicken Parm & tend to order it in many (not all) places that it's available. While down in WDW in October 2007, I had both the chicken parm from Mama Melrose & also from Tony's in the MK. I can honestly say that I was pleasantly surprised by the Mama Melrose one (it was good, had both decent texture & flavor), and equally UNpleasantly surprised by the one from Tony's (the chicken parm was a larger portion of chicken, but much less flavorful, & I found how much I am NOT a fan of Butoni pasta).

Now, I should also say that my wife & I ate at 50's Prime Time & we definitely enjoyed it quite a lot.

Which should you choose for your bf? That's completely up to you. Honestly, I don't think you'd be likely to go wrong either way.

Enjoy the Magic!

Definitely 100% go to Prime Time for the fried chicken. It was amazingly good. The chicken parm at MM is horrible!!!! It is baked not fried and is covered with an inch of mushy bread crumbs and no spices in the chicken or sauce. Just bland dried out chicken.

Go to Prime Time.....I agree with DBF.

I have made ADRs at MM and Tony's in MK each and every time we go to WDW and I end up cancelling them every. single. time.

Nothing could compare to my mother's or anything I can get in Chicago, so why waste the money and knowing me (as I do) I would get so ticked off at myself for EXPECTING it to be good.

That photo that was posted "sealed the deal" for me...Looks like a frozen chicken breast with some tomato sauce on with with overdone/starchy pasta.

I liked the chicken parm at Mama Melrose's, but would pretty much compare it to what I can get at a chain restaurant..........it is nothing like what I can get at a lot of the Italian places in Boston's North End.

I find the CP quite nice. It's what I get when we go to MM.

Fried chicken....hmmmmmmmm (Homer Donut noises)....50s Primetime..my favorite!

WOW..thank you all for your opinions!! My mind is made up on 5PT...THANK YOU!!! :thumbsup2
