Is anyone else as ridiculously excited as I am about a trip during the upcoming Food and Wine Festival?? Maybe it's just that I've been working so hard lately... We are heading down for the first 2 days of the festival, staying at the BC (easy access), and meeting some friends who will be celebrating the 1-yr-anniversary of their Disney wedding. It is over a month away, and I can't stop thinking about it!!! I am planning to stuff myself to the gills.

I'm excited also! I have wanted to go to WDW at this time for years-but didn't because of our kids& school .Now both of mine are in college and we're doing an Anniversary Trip.

Please give us reviews when you get back,so we know the best places to eat...AND drink!;) :)

Although I'm glad it's going on while we'll be there, I can't seem to get very excited about the F & W Fest for some reason. I'd really like to get into it, but I'm traveling with my DD(28) & DGD(7) who are such picky eaters that I'm afraid they wouldn't find anything they'd eat. I'm worried about standing in multible long lines for the samplings too. I hope I'm wrong about these things and end up loving it!...and the girls loving it too!

For the past 6 year we have planned our trips in the fall because of the Food and Wine Festvial!!! We love it!!!!!

The lines have never been bad and my daughter was 5 our first trip and 11 on the last one and she has always found something she liked to pick on.....

We usually make sure she gets her passport on the evening we are doing the Festival and as we eat and drink our way around the world she makes a stop in each country to have her passport validated and do an activity in the Kid Zone..Last time each Zone had something to do with the Tapestry of Dreams Parade..They made a sort of dream catcher and they added something to it in each Kids Zone usually located somewhere in each pavillion. You'd be surprised how much she enjoyed that and she wanted to visit every country.........

:) We, too will be there during the food and wine festival with our
5 year old son. The passports sound like a great idea. Where can we find one?

They sell them all over World Showcase. There is a stand near the entrance of World Showcase where we usually grab ours. The neat thing is that they will validate and sign the passport in the language of that country. We couldn't tell you what some of them even say at this point we'd need a translator, but it's sooo cool .....

I was there last year for a part of a day - attending my friend's wedding was the point of the trip - and I don't recall many lines at all!! Don't worry, jennymouse - you will only have to force DD and DGD to sit there for a minute while you get your next tasty food item!!

I just remember meeting my friend at Epcot after I arrived at WDW last fall...and she, her fiance, and the maid of honor were a little tipsy after attending a beer tasting at the Sam Adams tent. A WHOLE TENT, just for Sam Adams!! I remember tasting a few things - Malaysian stands out in my mind...and thinking, "Boy, I can't wait to force DH to come down for this." As soon as those fall codes came out, I booked a trip! Ohhhh, I can't wait...I wonder how much weight one can feasibly gain in 2.5 days? Shall we start laying bets?

I promise to write a review - but keep in mind, DH and I are going down to celebrate several things - our friends' anniversary, my finishing a huge certifying exam (if not passing it)...there might be a LOT of alcohol sampling impairing my judgement of the food!:smooth:

DH and I were also married at Sunset Pointe - our 2-year anniversary is approaching on Jan 27!! It is really too bad we'll miss you - we're just doing a quick weekend Oct 18-20. It would be cool to meet someone who married at the same place!

Count me in for the super-excited crowd! DW and I first learned about the F&W Festival watching a special on the Food Network about 3 years ago (maybe 4). We've been dying to go for the Festival ever since, except something else has seemed to get in the way (like getting married ;) ).

We've finally made it work this year and will be staying 11 days all during the Festival! I can NOT wait, and plan on stuffing myself to the gills :D

We spent our 3rd anniversary at WDW in October 2001, and loved the food and wine festival! We didn't attend any of the specialty dinners, but we did eat (and drink) our way around the world! It was fantastic!

While we won't be at the food and wine festival this year, I am very much looking forward to our 5th anniversary in 2003!

Enjoy!

We'll be there for 8 nights and on our last "park day" we haven't made any real plans. If the girls don't want to spend the day at the festival, I might have to ditch them and go alone so I can really experience it. That night I can have them find me on a park bench stuffed and napping the wine off!

Stuffed and napping the wine off, hmmm... LOL! That's probably what I'd be doing, if I could be sure DH wouldn't leave me there on the bench. ;)
I'm very much looking forward to this! It will be our first time. My younger son is actually excited about possibly trying escargot. We'll see, I guess. :)

What a shame we will miss you :( Happy anniversary for January - a little early I know ;)

kaylee

Jennymouse - GOOD FOR YOU!! I am sure that it is perfectly acceptable to sleep on a bench in Epcot. Given some of the stories about wonderful CM's on other boards, you will likely wake up covered with rare Japanese Disney pins.

Kaylee - right back at ya!! Not too early for you...your 2nd anniversary is coming up quick. Don't I know you from the disneymooners board during our wedding planning??? I am Allison (married to Curt) - and we are going down with Laurel and her DH, who I met through that board!!

Count me in as another one too excited! We went in Oct. 2000 for DH's first WDW trip and his only request for another trip is that it had to be during the Festival. :D

Only 47 days to our third time at the F&W Festival.

Our schedule may end up like this:
Day 1: Magic Kingdom in the morning, Epcot in the evening.
Day 2: Animal Kingdom in the morning, Epcot in the evening.
Day 3: MGM in the morning, Epcot in the evening.
and so on.

Wow!! Now I'm hungry...:p
My DH and I will also be joining the ranks for celebrating during the Food and Wine Festival...we're going over our fifth wedding annivesary! We have never been to the Food and Wine Festival before but are so excited...are staying at the Beach Club (another first!!) so we'll have plenty of time to sample...yum!!

Happily counting the days...IVY :p

There is something so relaxing about trying new things without making a commitment to a whole meal, and strolling through World Showcase with a nice glass of wine! We have been there twice during the F&W Festival and really enjoyed it. I only wish we could catch it this year, but we will be there too early (9-28 - 10-5 at Poly--CANNOT WAIT!!!) Especially enjoyed the Italian wines. Have a great time, but pace yourself!

This will be my first visit to it. Does it happen all day or just at night?
