About this thread - I thought I would post all the pertinent info I could find, as a way of being a virtual volunteer all on my own. And nope, not going. I don't like to not have a clear exit & large crowds....not my cup of tea. That being said, I sorta do wish we were going, but DD & I will watch on the TV up to the Swearing-In, (when Obama says "so help me God") and then we're high-tailing it to another President's house. Should have the place to ourselves until all the buses start to leave DC...

If the networks show this, keep your eyes on the Secret Service around the Presidetn at the Swearing-In. Bush will arrive, there's a ceremony, the agents have their eyes scanning the crowd, their eyes are *fixed* on the President. Then Obama says the Oath of Office and end with "So help me God" and their eyes will be fixed on the President.

Chills, I'm telling you *chills*.

DD & I just took a short drive up through Reagan National and went up the Parkway, looking over on the DC side. The Capitol Building looks beautiful, all the monuments are crystal-clear in the night.

When we came back South past the airport and into Alexandria, we were the last car coming into Old-Town. The Alexandria Police had just blocked off Northbound access to the George Washigton Parkway.

I-395 will be blocked-off starting around 3 or 3:10 this morning.

It is hard to believe that it is 3:00 and some people are probably already huddled at the Metro, waiting for it to open up to catch the first train out.

I always take I-Day off and stay put in the house......which I have a feeling a lot of other DC area people are doing today. I hope those who go down have a good time and keep warm!
