Looking through the 2006 UG best days/days to avoid Vs touringplans.com Both are giving out different information.

For example:

March 1st

UG:
Best: DS/AK Avoid: MK

TP
Best: EP Avoid: AK

EMH: AK

March 3rd

UG:
Best: EP/AK Avoid: MK/DS

TP

Best: MK/AK Avoid: EP/DS

EMH: EPCOT

and many more!

From what I have read over the months on these boards, is AVOID any park with EMH.

I am now thinking about ignoring the UG, as it has best day parks for those who have EMH. :confused3

I am not preparing a strict planning guide, but want avoid EMH parks

TP also states a few parks which are "best days", but these also have EMH

For example: March 6th Best Day for MGM, but this has evening EMH!

I think I'm just going to have to mix the two and see what happens

Any thoughts on this?

It depends on where you are staying, that maybe why there are differences, plus it is never definantive.

If you are onsite then using the EMH's are a good idea, espcially if they are in the evening. If you are off site going the day aftert an EMH is good. Then you also have to factor in that the locals will visit more at the weekends.

I thought Touring plans where the up to date offshoot of UG with the confirmed dates for EHM used. While UG is using last years EHM dates as its published before 2006 dates are confirmed. I am quite sure that UG recommends checking touringplans.com for uptodate timings and recommendations.

www.touringplans.com is the UOG site, containing updates on the parks and best days guides. They are both the same - if there are differences in the crowd blog for specific days, I would recommend you go with the website advice :)

Agreed.

But what do I do when it says best day for MGM is Monday, March 06, 2006, but this is also evening EMH.

This goes against what a lot of people say, avoid any park with EMH

when we went in July, I did a do-it-yourself touring plan...
i took the EMH days from the official Disney website and then scheduled our park visits accordingly (to avoid all EMH days)...

after i had the whole thing worked out, Disney went and changed the schedule at the last minute...
so i re-did the whole thing...
it worked really well.....

i definitely would recommend avoiding parks that have EMH nights on that day....(whether you're staying on or offsite)...

and it seemed to work best for us to visit the park that had had the EMH night on the prior day.....in other words, if MGM had an EMH night on sunday night, we would go to MGM on monday....it worked really well...

however, this was true in July...
when my daugther and I went in September, we accidentally happened into the MK on an EMH night and while the parade was PACKED on main street, the rest of the park was empty for the next 3 hours and it was GREAT....
so the advice about avoiding EMH nights i think depends on when you're going...

hi, i have used touring plans this year and i think that the information they give is excellent.

i have printed off several days just in case our plans change when we get there.

Hi folks,

The website's calendar is always the most up-to-date. The book was published before the update to EMHs.

For the instances where we recommend a park on its EMH day, it's because we try to recommend each park at least once in every rolling seven-day period. This allows a family visiting WDW for a week to be able to see each park once on its (relatively) best days.

Disney seems to have placed MGM's EMH days squarely on those days of the week when folks normally avoid MGM. (Our Crowd Blog goes in to some detail about this.) In these instances, we try to choose the "least bad" MGM day to satisfy our once-per-week requirement. That appears to be Mondays.

Let me know if none of this makes sense - I've only had one cup of coffee today!

Sincerely,

Len Testa

Guess we UK folks are lucky in that we tend to go for more than one week :)

If it's at a slow time I personally don't pay much attention to touring plans. March isn't too bad is it? Or might you have the Spring Break crowds?

Thanks for that, lentesta! Thats makes sense.

I'm there Feb 27th-Mar 17th, so from what I can work out, should be fairly quiet. It will get busier with each day as more and more states have their Spring Break.

I'll stick to the get up early/avoid EMH parks and visit those which had their EMH the previous day (thanks Wilma)

We were there March 13th/27th last year, the crowds were not too bad at all, just a bit busy towards the end of our holiday, 27th was Easter Sunday....
just be prepared for 'changeable' weather.
