Unlimited EP vs VIP Tour

We have never been to US but have a chance to go for the first time for a full day on Sat. April 29th and a half day on Sunday April 30. Which would be the better way to try to see the most in 1.5 days?

Stay at a Deluxe Resort to get Unlimited Express Passes for both days

or

Stay wherever we want but pay for the VIP tour on Saturday and then just get a regular park ticket for Sunday and fit in whatever we can by ourselves?

I just assumed a $389 VIP Tour would be a whole day thing, if it isn't. where do I find exact info on how long the tour lasts and what all is included? The website is very vague.

OMG, thanks, I was google searching Universal VIP tours and did not even realize it was showing me HOLLYWOOD tours! LMAO Now, I have even more to think about
