Universal's Royal Pacific - any recommendations?

we stayed at the RPR 28th June for 7 nights and the place is really beautiful.
we enjoyed our stay that much we are booked for 2 weeks next year and as we will be in Florida for 3 weeks we where thinking of staying for 1 week at a beach resort , but seriously thinking of just staying for the 3 weeks at RPR, this will be more of a holiday than doing the parks.
There is lot of pics of the RPR here

Please tell me more about the sinking ship!!!

We go in oct with our DD 4 yrs.

Lindy Loo: It's very hard to explain but I'll try. Maybe someone out there has some pictures of it?????

Ok...
The "sinking ship" is above the pool and right along side of the zero entry area of the pool.
It has water leaking from the top so you can run under it...it seems colder than the pool water...but it's still a lot of fun!
There are many water guns that are attached that you can pick up and play with (maybe take aim at a family member.
There are other areas where water is gushing out...lots of fun!!!!
The kids seemed to love it (me too!!!)

We just got back from RPR and it was GREAT! The hotel theming is terrific, our rooms were very clean and the pool was the best! Our kids played water volleyball, water basketball, played in the water ship play area,My son sharked a couple of kids on the outdoor pool tables :thumbsup2 and we supervised the activities from the 2 hot tubs. :cloud9: We traveled to the HRH to check out their pool and the ONLY thing it had going for it was the soundtrack and a slide. As it has a man made sand beach the pool & hot tub was full of sand, and the kids missed the water sports. I for one would not pay the extra cost to stay in the Hard Rock!
As for the MEAL DEAL you have to eat a LOT of food to make it worth it! Also the meal deal does NOT include your drink! They do however have a drink suplement to the meal deal they will sell you! :smooth: We shared most meals and in the parks asked for courtessy ice water most of the time. We are not big eaters and don't drink much soda.

I'm not sure where these "bad" reviews are coming from, it must be a combination of a few unlucky people that just happened to get a not so clean room yet, and/or the disgruntled person that is not happy about anything anytime anywhere. All I know is that everytime I have gone it has been great, can't wait for my next trip that is where I'm staying again.

We are getting close now - only 24 more days... And , well - we were supposed to go with my mother and step father; My step father attempted suicide on Monday, November 20. Yesterday was Thanksgiving and he was in the hospital - he slit both of his wrists and bludgened himself in the stomach twice with a 6 - 8 inch buie knife with a very wide blade. He is a 56 year old diabetic...He was air-lifted to Biloxi hospital and he's still there. Yesterday, we (my husband & 2 kids) stayed home and didn't even cook. Towards the end of the day, when we were getting hungry, we couldn't find an open restaurant, so we just fed the kids left over mac n cheese for dinner. My mom & step dad were supposed to come over & spend the day with us, but that wasn't possible. My poor little kids were sick on top of all of this - my 4 year old threw up and my 6 year old had fever; both still coughing.

My step dad did this all because of work; he works for the city of Waveland, Mississippi - which was pulverized by the hurricane. He couldn't take the stress, the stories, the devistation, etc anymore. They lost everything they had, but they had insurance & they've been back in their repaired house for a while. I feel so horrible for him. It's 2am and tomorrow we have to entertain my husband's family. They're coming over for a late Thanksgiving dinner since we cancelled it on Wednesday. I don't feel like doing this at all.

I've heard so many times that prayer really does work... I don't know if it's true or not, but I know I've said quite a few this week. If you guys would say just a quick prayer for my step dad, AL, I sure would appreciate it. I feel so helpless and sad - just don't know what to do. He is the sweetest man and I wish I could make things better.

Thanks,
Mimi :sad1:

I'm sending lots of prayers to you and your family, Mimi. So sorry to hear about your stepfather - I can only imagine what a difficult time this has been for him and your mother.

Please know that our thoughts are with you and I hope that you and your family get through this okay.

Big hugs,
MouseGirl

Hugs and prayers to you and your family from a fellow Louisianian.
Bless your heart and so close to the holidays. Hopefully, your stepdad will recover both physically and emotionally very soon. Y'all get plenty of rest-your mom too.
My son went to St. Stanislaus and we were devastated by the pictures that a couple of the brothers sent us.

Prayers and hugs for your family :grouphug: I hope that things start looking up and that your step father pulls through this. Our thoughts are with you and yours!
