Universal's Military Salute program has been extended until Dec. 18, 2009. It was due to end on June 28 but now military members can pick up their free 7-Day ticket at the base MWR ITT Office anytime before 12/18/09. For family members there is a huge discount on the same 7-Day ticket. Woo-hoo! Let's go to Orlando!

Could you tell me more about this program? Also, does it apply to disabled vets who are no longer on active duty?

Thanks,

Where did you see/hear about this? The website says the tickets need to be purchased by JUNE 28th.

Yep....the Universal group site and varying military type announcements agree. Buy them at an MWR ITT office (whatever that may be :hippie: ) by June 28th, with said tickets expiring on 18 Dec....or so it looks to me. It looks like they offer discounts at other non-special promotion times as well.

Here's what appears to be the original press release....the details have always been thus.

Whenever it ends...I'm sure glad they do it for our soldiers and their loved ones. I very much respect and appreciate those who serve bravely so I may remain a peaceful gardener.

how can you determine how much the companion tickets are going to cost? It just says "up to $35 off".

MWR/ITT offices are on bases. They are there so the military can get event tickets, help with travel, as well as other things to do with recreation.

The flyer I got from our local base says the companion tickets are $89.

The OP is correct. :thumbsup2
I just got off the phone with our local ITT office and the girl that I spoke with said that just had gotten word that the deadline to get tickets has been extended. So tickets can now be purchased through December 18th.

are these one day or just the 7 days? And, if we get 7 days, do they have to be used consecutively or before Dec 18th? Thanks!

Most of the time, the discount comes off the gate price for the companion tickets.

Our local Ticket office has these companion tickets - 2 parks/7 days at $89 - with the current promotion at the gate being $99. So you are saving $10+ tax

Good grief. You guys have no idea the hoops we had to jump through to get my husband's free ticket. The vacation is not until mid August, so getting it before the vacation was impossible and our MWR doesn't carry them since we are overseas. Yes, we did get the ticket, but it would have been nice if we could have just picked it up at SOG in August.

Our local ITT doesn't carry "National tickets" so we had to order the Disney and Universal tickets. It was pretty painless, except they lost the order for our Disney tickets. :scared: Thankfully, they were for our trip months away. They straightened it out and I'm happy that I didn't need our tickets right away.
