Universal (Yes or No)

You can't seriously think that's true. Just be honest, you've never been to IOA, right? You're just making this up because you really don't want to go.
Actually I've been once a year for the last few years.

Only 1/5 of IOA has so-called "Cardboard cutouts" sitting on a few FULLY THEMED buildings.
IMHO, "fully themed" buildings doesn't constitute a paint job, concrete benches, and neon lights.

Rock'n'roller coaster
Because IOA is known for its coasters with immersive themeing.

they actually have real decorations and animatronics.
When they are working. Don't even get me started on RipSaw Falls.

Probably be very difficult because there AREN'T ANY.
Toon Lagoon. And again, overgrown brush and bushes doesn't constiute a theme to me like Jurassic Park.

Specifics............( and I wish more people would give specifics, especially when they tell you NOT to go..........) I personally would like to know why they didn't enjoy it, for information if nothing else!!! It's nice to know all aspects, espcecially when trying to form an opinion, or to know what to avoid.
I can give specifics. I don't have that immersive feeling like I'm actually being transported to another land or "world". I'm a fan of thrill rides and the like, but that is how I feel at Universal, the same I've felt at Six Flags or a Paramount Park in the past, that I'm just there for the "thrill" of it. There is no emotional connection, nothing pulling me into the story or theme of the lands or rides. Just flashy special effects, like a big summer movie blockbuster. I like to be entertained for the day, not just feeling like I got a few quick thrills.

You know, I wish when these types of threads get started on the other boards they would just leave them there. All the Married to Disney/Universal Bashers come here and start badmouthing Universal each and every time, seemingly moreso lately. Everyones entitled to their own opinions, but don't come to a Universal Board and start ripping Universal. If you said you didn't like it, fine, but don't start arguing to us why you think Universal sucks,.

Then take your issue up with the moderators that decided to move it here. And if you take my opinion as badmouthing Universal, then that is fine, I have nothing to prove to you. Someone wanted specifics about why they didn't like Universal and I gave them, it wasn't bad mouthing, it was an informed opinion. I'm not going to sugarcoat anything for the sheer fact that this thread was moved to the Universal section of the boards, where apparently everyone is happy and agrees on everything.

Actually, the people who regularly post here on the Universal boards are the nicest bunch of people. I read and post on the WDW part of the boards, also, and there is a lot of great information there, but I see so much bashing of an individual for a very innocent question or comment. Sometimes it's a brand new poster, too--what a wonderful welcome, huh?

Yeah, who would want to be happy and agreeable? Disney fans can't be happy or agreeable, they're too busy arguing over anything that's not "Disney" related as being not worthy.

Look, obviously you have some hatred toward Universal for some reason, maybe because it is doing a better job at making rides than Disney is. But please, the exaggerations you portray are incredibly off, and not accurate for someone who could actually ENJOY themselves going to Universal, like SO MANY other people who thought Disney was doing a good job until they saw Universal.

That's called pixie dust and sometimes people want to come and sprinkle it over here. If it makes them feel better then by all means, sprinkle away. Even if they speak slowly and yell, they won't stop us from liking Universal.:p

I have just read all the posts in this one!!

This is a Universal Board. We like Universal/IOA. We love Universal/IOA. If you do not like it - that's fine - but we LIKE it, we LOVE it. We go to Universal/IOA whenever we CAN, BECAUSE :-

We LOVE the rides - they are brilliant, original, exciting, with a build up to each one in a themed setting (and I'm not talking about the coasters!) The restaurants are fabulous, the on-site hotels luxourious with a front of the line access and priority seating at all restaurants.

The people on these boards are my friends. We talk, share our experiences, ask questions, and sometimes play games.

IF YOU ARE NOT A LOVER THEN YOU ARE ON THE WRONG BOARD!!!!!

Seconding DM's request out of sheer frustration. I want my happy place back where, yes, its true, we all get along and like each other. What an awful place this must be for others because of that.:teeth:

Ahh... the magic of Utopia....

Nope and nope. A better job? When was the last time that IOA built an E-ticket type attraction?

Spiderman def fits in that category.

Since Splash Mt. what has MK added that would be considered E-Ticket
What has AK added recently to be considered E-Ticket??
MGM hasn't added anything new in a while either.
So with the exception of Mission Space at Epcot, what has Disney added lately to it's 4 parks that's an E-Ticket ride???

Anyone know where Flyfly is? Haven't heard from her in a while.

Okay, what is the deal? I think it's great that people are posting more often here, but lately there are one too many threads comparing Disney to Universal. Don't get me wrong, everyone here is here to help, but I truly hope that these are legitimate requests and not just people trying to stir arguments on these boards as they do on other boards.

Getting off my soapbox now....:p

I am new to posting on these boards. I have actually been hanging around watching for the past few days. I have a comment about the Universal vs. Disney. I love both parks. They are so very different. my family likes Universal better, they like the rides better. I love the whole ambience of Universal. This will be our first time staying on site. We are staying in May for 5 days and all of them at HRH. Last year we only went to Universal for one day and it left us wanting to go back.

You'll absolutely love staying on site. Being able to walk to the parks and getting FOTL is so great! And you'll get to ride the Revenge of the Mummy which is getting amazing reviews!!! We're going in May as well and can hardly wait. The Universal parks and hotels are my happy place:)

Wow... I didn't get on the boards til late tonight. I had no idea this thread would come to this. Originally, I thought this thread had been moved from the Themeparks board, but why on Earth would they move something from the Debate board. I too think it is time for this to be locked. Barry and Robin are you out there?

Oh, and for the record... I didn't say that Gail Hayden had never been to Universal. I said that her stated opinion was not helpful. I spoke of people who had never been's opinion in general.

They must be running out of good debates over on the debate board to want to come over here and stir things up. I think they will find that most of us here on the Univeral boards are here because we love Universal or we are people looking for HELPFUL opinions on the parks.

I have something to say, I asked one simple question. Maybe I didn't phrase it right? I guess I wanted to know what the difference is. But after reading all of the above posts, I will consider posting anything again. I did not mean to start a controversy.

Oh, I hope you didn't take anything that was said on this thread personally. I think that it is safe to assume that no one was referring to your posts when the sparks were flying. I think that most of us were responding to the unhelpul comments that were made by a couple of posters. We are a very friendly bunch over here and when folks come over on THIS board and bash Universal, well... you see what happens. If you ever have questions, please feel free to ask. I have learned sooo much over here. The people on the Universal boards are wonderful. Please don't let a renegade debater keep you from the wealth of information that they have available here. Also, forgive me for not stating it earlier, but WELCOME to the boards.:wave2:
