Would you recommend we go? Our 9 year old is very interested in Harry Potter, just wondering what else would be good at Universal with our children’s ages.

We had a lot of fun with our 12 and 6 year olds!
Personally, I am glad we waited until all our kids were over 42".
My kids are a little shorter than average, so I say there will be plenty to do if your 3 year old is 40"

There are quite a few things for kids, but Universal is more of a thrill park with a decent amount for kids, whereas Disney is primarily stuff
everyone can enjoy with a few thrill rides.

There is an entire land for kids (and kids at heart) at both parks. There’s also quite a few characters, and a parade with meet and greets at the end. There’s several shows that are either directed at kids or kid-friendly. You can also use rider swap so all the adults can experience the stuff
the kids don’t want to or can’t. The website lists all the attractions, including height requirements, as well as the shows. For the eldest, experiencing the wizarding world alone will be worth the visit.

I have an 8 year old who is all things Harry Potter right now. He loves WDW and did all the rides there, but didn't care for the ride at our local amusement park that had a "Big drop". (not sure why he like RNR then) That's essentially the reason we're waiting. I think he'll really like the coasters when he's a bit bigger and it will make the park more worth while, other than all the Harry Potter fun. We likely will only go once, so that factors into our thought process as well.

There is so much to enjoy, when my kids were little they enjoyed unaversal better just cause they were all current movies. Dr suess, curious george, minions, transformers, spongebob, spiderman and jurrasic park " dinosaurs" were there everyday life. As they knew of Harry potter and the first movie but the rest were kind of dark so they did not understand. But they still enjoyed using the magic wand to make magic happen in town and the theming is amazing. The kids still talk about meeting scooby doo cast. They also met Marilyn Manroe and lucy and simsondidnt know who they were but had something to talk to grandma about.
