Universal water park in the works.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Universal Orlando has submitted plans to build a water park near the Cabana Bay Beach Resort.

The Orlando Sentinel reports a report filed Friday with the South Florida Water Management District details a "water theme park" that includes a volcano with slides, a lazy river and rapids ride.

Last year, Universal Orlando filed stormwater permit documents with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The documents noted the construction on the project would continue through November 2016 and include 53 acres of "land disturbance."

Wahoo, we always enjoy a water park. Aquadica's Roa Rapids is a favorite of ours, so any fun rapids ride would be fun. I hope it does get done in a couple of years.

The latest from screamscape mentions some of the newer slides from Wet n Wild being moved to the new water park,Wet n Wild closing and Universal building a new resort with a smaller City walk entertainment complex where Wet n Wild sits and Universal buying up more land around it for I wonder what????A third park would definitely change the feeling of Universal's place in the Orlando theme park landscape where Disney would have to seriously worry about their bottom line.A short monorail line crossing I-4 between areas would make for a complete resort with easy transportation,and a great variety of hotels,parks,restaurants and entertainment.
