Due to our stay in Orlando being reduced this year, (DCL first timers :yay:) I am not sure if we will have enough time to visit Universal /IOA.
One option I was looking at = 1 day 2 park pass with possible FOTL pass added.
Here are a few questions ;)

Are FOTL passes available at the gate on the day (August)
How much are they compared to buying up front from Universal website
What it the current rate of tax to add on
What do you think is our best option (2Ad + 1Ch)

Thanks :thumbsup2

There is no price advantage to buying in advance over on the day, except doing it far in advance can work out cheaper.
However you are past that point for this August.
There are a few places that sell them around the park, the ticket booths at the entrance as well obviously.

Current price for the express plus (FOTL comes with a Universal room) for Aug is.

1st to 15th - $43
16th to 30th - $32 except for the 19th, 24th - 27th and 31st - $26.

I guess the express plus suits your needs as one shot at the major rides for both parks will take a large chunk out of your day.

Tax is 6%.

It's debatable whether you'll need them for the days priced at $26, this is the lowest banding and indicates the park isn't expected to be too busy.

For these dates I'd wait and see on the day.

we always do the 2 parks in one day. we get to universal studios before it opens and do all the rides we want, last year we did a couple twice like the simpsons rides

we then ahve lunch around 12ish at hard rock and then go to islands of adventure and do all the rides there, we dont do many of the big ones like hulk of dd as i dont like them but we do spiderman and most of the others

For many years we didn't stay onsite and didn't have the benefit of FOTL passes. What we have always found if you arrive at the parks (any of them) early you can whizz round getting everything done but leave it till after opening times and you will struggle in the summer. Our aim is always to spend as less time as we can in lines. Now we stay onsite and have the benefit of FOTL and being able to go to the parks in the afternoon and walk straight on rides is fantastic. Water rides always seem to have the highest line time an hour+ so FOTL passes come in really handy.

So it really depends on how you are going to tackle the parks to whether it is worth paying out extra. Arrive first thing in the morning and you will be able to whizz round all the rides before the main crowds arrive. Arrive later and FOTL passes become more attractive.
