Can anyone suggest some favorite places at Universal to have lunch?
Thanks!

Do not bother eating inside Universal Studios. The food is expensive and bland. Just your typical blah style hotdogs, burgers, pizza etc.

Instead walk out of the park and into Universal Citywalk. There you will find quite a few great places to eat and get far more food for the $. I like Tony Romas or Wolf Gang Pucks for full service or for something quick try Dodger Dogs or Tommy's Burgers.

Thank you very much for replying! I was beginning to think noone ate when they went to Universal ;)

We'll go to Universal Citywalk to eat. Thanks again!

Quite the opposite of Huff's experience I have found the burgers at Mel's Drive
in (inside the park) to be excellent. Above average and better than Tommy's.
And the fried chicken at Doc Brown's is excellent.

The last time DD and I were there is was so hot that all we had all day was the soft serve ice cream and water.

Doc Brown's and Mel's were very good, we also hit Hard Rock for dinner, It was a GREAT hot day.

We always eat at Mel's Drive In when we go to Universal. It is kind of a tradition, I guess. We have always really enjoyed it.

We have eaten at Saddle Ranch Chop house each time we have went. You get huge portions , awesome service and the food is great. Its located just outside the park.

if you want a good sit down meal walk over to the hard rock hotel and try "The Kitchen" we had several excellent meals and the prices were reasonable, for quick I would vote for margaritaville (great nachos) or bubba gumps (excellent shrimp new orleans)

Last year I had an annaul pass to Universal ( one of those buy a day, get a year deals ) and got frequent emails about the "all you can eat" pass they have. Expensive in the park - like $25 per person, but if you buy in advance online they are much cheaper. Never tried it, since we rarely went for more than 1/2 a day, but seemed like it could be worth $20 or so pretty easily.

If you want a taste of true LA food, go to Tommy's in Universal City Walk. Greasy, sloppy, great chili burgers. Been voted best greasy spoon joint in LA for many, many years. But they are greasy. Not health food by any means. They make a mean breakfast sandwich too - like an Egg McMuffin, but with chili and sausage. I do know people that don't care for the food, but it is a true LA tradition.
