Universal Studios or IOA for 7 year old boy?

We are making our first trip to Orlando in June. We only have time for one of the Universal parks. Which would be best for a not very adventurous 7 year old boy? I had decided on IOA but not so sure now. It looks like there is a lot of rides that he wouldn't do there. Plus he loves Despicable Me so I'm now leaning towards US. Although he loves the marvel characters, he loves transformers just as much. I just want to be sure that there would be plenty to keep him busy if we do US. Thanks!

The studios would be my choice.

He would probably like the minionions street shows too.

That's a tough call.

IOA has an awesome Marvel character section with all the superheros. My nephew who was seven loved it. IOA also has a cool Jurassic Park area and the Seuss area is fun as well. The Harry Potter section is just amazing too. My nephew rode the Forbidden Journey ride with no issues. I think he did everything except for the Hulk and Dr. Doom.

Universal seems more low key overall. There is a lot more shows and I think he could do everything except the big coaster they have. There is Shrek, Men In Black, ET, Despicable Me, Transformers and quite a few character meet and greets.

Is it possible to get a park to park ticket and do both? They are a quick walk away from each other.

After checking, the price difference isn't really that much for Park to Park. I guess I thought it would be more. That sounds like the best plan so he can enjoy his favorites from both parks. One last question... any thoughts on whether it would best to visit Harry Potter first thing in the morning or evening? I will be staying off-site so I won't have the guest privilege of the early entry. It will be Saturday, June 14th. Thanks for the info!
