Universal Studios- front of the line pass?

I am only familiar with US in Orlando but we will be visiting La at the end of June and going to US on either a Saturday or Sunday. Is it necessary to buy the pass? I was going to buy my tickets ahead of time with the special online that gives 2 days for the price of one but could we add the front of the line pass on when we get there?

We went to US last week on 04/08, during spring break and Easter, and it was crowded. We arrived to the park at 8:30 am and the park opened at 9:00 am. By 4:30 pm we had done everything expect the Blues Brothers show, because my kids weren't interested, and we didn't have the front of the line pass. So I would say that, in my opinion, if you get there early, you can save that money.

I think $104 is a lot of additional money to spend. And is that each??? WOW! We've only taken DD10 to USH once and left early since there wasn't enough for her to do (she was about 6 then). Ultimately it's up to you but it sure sounds expensive to me.

Generally its a waste of money. The only lines that it would be of use on is Simpsons, Jurassic Park, Mummy and the Tram. Everything else is a show and you have to wait for the next show anyways.

Secondly it is only of use when the park is very packed. That can happen on some holidays and summer weekends but normally it is not packed. So it really depends on the time of year you go.

In the morning its best to ride in this order, Simpsons, Mummy, Jurrassic, Tram. Then do the shows.
