Universal Studios Chat: Part 2

Hey!!!I have given my website a makeover already (thanks to DocBosch who said "no" to frames).

Hey, don't just not do it because I said so. Remember, my opinion is just mine. You might end up doing something real cool or innovative with frames that would completely prove me wrong. Don't just use frames because you can, and don't not use them because some people said they didn't like them. Do whatever you do based on what you want. I gave my opinion to help you make up your mind, but in the end, you got to make up your own mind.

I'm just saying this because I know that when your young and creative, you tend to be influenced by what other people think. You'll eventually realize (hopefully) that when you do things based on what you want, directed by your own vision, that's when things come out good. If you try to please everybody, or follow try to follow some sort of formula, things come out bland and unoriginal, but when you do it your way it's unique.

As far as getting interviews, give it time. The best thing you have is you devotion (yes... not obsession ;) ) and eventually your site. Don't be bashful or embarrassed when you go to the show. Make sure that the people there know you're there, and that you're there often. After the show, when they're hanging out and signing autographs, make yourself seen. Make friends with the performers and the crew. Eventually they’ll know you and (if your not annoying) be happy to see you. They'll be flattered when they find out you have a site dedicated to their hard work, and even more so when you ask for an interview. You're your own leverage.

Some of the most fun things to learn are those that you'll never use in life! Think of all the seemingly useless Universal and Ghostbusters stuff you've crammed into your head. :p It's all the important, real world stuff that's a pain to go through.

You're going to be a filmmaker? Read up on you're physics and chemistry, cause those lighting packages aren't going to set themselves up and that film stock isn't going to pick it's own aperture stop. Sleep through math and history, and later you'll wonder why the movie's over budget and why your historical drama is #1 on MovieMistakes.com. And I bet all those hack screenwriters out there don't even know what Hamlet is, let alone his age.

Hmm. As of Right Now, I am not working RTU on the 5th. A meet can be arranged for then, unless OT is approved, for I will work RTU on the 5th if it is.

flyfly;
If you need any pictures of IOA/UO, you can copy any you want from my site (see link below). It's best to start at the most recent trip and go backwards. I haven't updated the site in a while due to work and family stuff, but hope to take several hundred new ones on my trip in a couple of weeks. If you want anything specific that I don't have posted to the site, let me know and I'll see if I already have it, or I can take it when I go. My digital has a pretty good capacity.

My goodness, FlyFly, don't ever let a teacher hear you say you're wasting your time learning something you'll never use again.

Oh I'm quite sorry for being honest!!! :p lol...but remember I didn't say anything bad about English!!! ;) In fact, I rather enjoy English...especially writing. Reading classics is another story though...

Oops!!! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to word it that way at all!! I had asked for people's personal opinion on the whole frames issue, and because of your honesty I thought about it and decided that you were right and I should forget the whole frames thing. I wasn't doing it for any "creative" thing...only to help navigate the site, but I've figured out what to do now. But no, sorry to make it sound that I only did it because you told me too! I wasn't satisfied with the way my site looked anyway, and so I got a fresh new start (if I kept frames, I'd be tempted to do the same thing I did before).

Very cool Dark Marauder. :) Keep us updated!! (BTW - congrats on EOM of your division!!!)

And thanks ksdave!! I'll let you know! I'm planning on taking many pictures on my next trip (dunno if it will be this Sunday or the following Friday) but may not be able to take much. That's really kind of you :)

UPDATE:

Argh! I just can't be satisfied with what I have!! Starting over the website again...I'm just not happy with how it looks - way too basic. I don't know...just something about it...

Anyway, it's a for sure "no go" on my trip tomorrow...dangit. Oh well, I'll be going back on September 5 for a 2-day trip :)

Anyone going to see WWWWSS? Can someone take pictures for me? Or does anyone have any pictures I can use? I'd like to have some on my website, but since I'm not going on Sunday after all....won't be there in time :( And for the pictures...if you give them to me, make sure they aren't used on another Universal fansite...preferably ones you, yourself, took, so I know who to give credit to.

Anyway, gotta go get lunch! Be back in a little while and will continue I my website...I'll keep ya'll updated. :)

Update!! Update!! :bounce:

Well, my main page has FINALLY been created...and I'm ACTUALLY happy with it. Not the best looking site, but it's OK enough for me :teeth:

Anyway, I am getting my domain name tomorrow and will hopefully have it up for ya'll to check out within the next couple days (domains take up to 72 hours before they work with the site, I hear...but hopefully it won't take that long)!!

Yay! It's getting CLOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait to check out your website, Flyfly. I'm sure it's going to be great!

Thanks Alexandnessa!

UPDATE: I just registered my domain name!! Not sure when I'll find out if I get it or not...may be up to 3 days, I guess? At least that's what I read somewhere else...

anyone with a domain name have any idea?? I had never gotten a domain before, so it's kinda new for me...I'm currently using a redirection service, at least until I can afford the monthly costs of a real host...

Hopefully, I'll be able to show ya'll soon. :) Don't have too high expectations though...:o

OK, I got one opinion of my site so far...:o

It didn't have any links yet so I'll be working on that tomorrow and then maybe I'll show more people :)

Please don't have any expectations...or if you do, have crummy ones!!! :p Not exactly the best looking site (hehe and someone seconded that opinion. Won't mention who ;) ). I will say this person wasn't saying that to be mean...after I was so defensive...lol.

But I only tell you that so you don't have high expectations. I don't like to be a let down. :)

Anyway, no confirmation on the URL yet...hopefully within the next couple days. And I really need to fix up the other pages. I spent too much time on the collages on the site that the site itself was a bit deprived...:)

Anyway, I'm looking forward to September 5 when I can see the Ghostbusters Show again and meet DocBosch. :)

Man...I'm gonna have to go through 3 days of school before then???? How am I going to concentrate?!?! :bounce:

Well, being a perfectionist, I used the person's advice and did a bit more editing to the front page...it looks better. I seriously do not want to redo it again, so I *think* I'm happy with it....lol.....

Anyway, I linked the pages together that I have done. I have my pages for Universal Studios complete, but most lack pictures which I will have to get on my trip this upcoming weekend.

I also created a messageboard for my website, though I highly doubt it will compare to this one :) I'll be posting links soon!!!! I just want confirmation about my domain before I mention my site, which I am still waiting for. :( I'm getting a little impatient...:p
