Universal Studios and the two new attractions

I just thought I'd offer some advice for those going to Universal Studios in the near future.

As you are probably aware Universal have two new attractions for 2003, Shrek 4D and Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius.

Queues for these are horrendous at the moment, we saw Shrek top 120mins and JN top 90mins when we were over last week.

The major problem with these two new attractions are they are both right near the main entrance and therefore everyone goes to these first.

My advice to avoid any major queueing would be to get a Shrek Universal Express (Fastpass at Disney) when entering the park. You will probably find that by 10am these are all sold out, so you may well have a time of late afternoon on your ticket.

This opens up the whole park for you, and believe me, it almost felt like it was just us doing any of the other attractions. MIB, BTTF and T2 were all just 5mins wait, and didn't top 15mins for most of the day. The other rides like ET, Jaws, Earthquake and Twister were 10mins max all day.

In between ripping around the other attractions pop back to the Jimmy Neutron queue periodically, it did lower to 30mins later in the day. It's good but not great and certainly not worth 90mins of your valuable queueing time.

As I said before, Shrek 4D had huge queues all day, and when we managed to get a Universal Express and get near the front of the queue, IT BROKE DOWN!!!! 3 TIMES AND ON DIFFERENT DAYS.

It will have to wait for our next visit.........

In the end we only waited for 5mins in the Express queue, I'm glad that I didn't queue for any major length of time. It's alright but really its just Hanna Barbera with a new film, I guess if people are big fans of JN then it will be a blast.

I notice you're off to Vegas next year, whereabouts are you staying?

We went last year and stayed at the Luxor. Fantastic hotel and awesome holiday, hoping to go back later this year, if not next year.

I can understand why the parks rework rides that are looking a little dated. I didn't think JN was much/any better than Hannah Barbera but I'll bet Jimmy sells more toys that Dick Dastardly. I did think Shrek was very good and enjoyed this experience, we were staying at PBH so we got front of the line access which was worth it's weight in gold :D
