Universal Resort Pool Question

Its my understanding that the resort pools at RPR, HRH, and PBH close at 10:00 p.m.

At Disney resorts you can still swim after the pools close but it's "at your own risk," it just means that the lifeguards go off duty but you can still swim.

Do the Universal hotels have a similar policy? Or do they actually close until morning?

Thank you.

We have had pool view at HRH and after pool closes its everyone out.

The beach club gate is closed and the hot tub gate can apparently be locked so the only entrance left is the doors by the elevator. When pool is closed or thunderstorm you cant walk outside by the pool.

This isn't exactly correct. The Boardwalk is the only Disney hotel with the policy you describe; all of the other all Disney resorts have official pool closing hours.

I was at RPR last week and the pool closed at 11:00. After that time, the gates are closed.

My family and I stayed at the Contemporary last year (Aug 2006) and the main pool was open, only the slide was closed and if it after midnight. There were several people swimming including us. :confused3

I usually stay at a Disney mods but stayed at a value for the marathon last year and I can tell you that there were people swimming at 4 am when I left for the run! Kids without parents also!

We've stayed at the GF. Their quiet pool is open 24 hours-we've actually gone swimming after EMH at around 3 am:thumbsup2
At PBH their quiet pool is open at least til midnight.

The quiet pool at the Polynesian is open 24 hours, unless closed for some type of maintenance issue. I have even swam in the Volcano pool at midnight with no problem either. Just the water slide is turned off and the entrance and exit to it are secured with a netting barrier. Same with the Contemporary resort that I stayed at. Your allowed to swim, but you have to be respectful of the guests at the resort and keep noise down to a minimum. I have seen people in that pool as late as 1am in the morning.

I'm sorry to see that the onsite Universal resorts close the pool so early. I find taking a relaxing swim at night is a great way to unwind and help get to sleep easier.

On the subject of WDW I thought AKL was also a '24 hr' pool?

Claire ;)

When I stayed there in 2005 the pool was open 24 hours, but haven't heard of any changes since then. I swam there late at night and no one bothered me. The hot tub was open late as well.

This wasn't the case when we stayed there in August 2005. The Volcano pool closed at 11pm and was locked off then.

Are the pools situated further away from the hotel rooms at Disney? I'd be rather angry if someone was swimming and hooting and hollering outside my window at 4 in the morning. The pools are very close to the rooms as Universal and it is important that it closes up, so people can go to bed!

Not necessarily. As example, at the Boardwalk hundreds of rooms directly overlook three of the four sides of Luna Park (the main family pool). The resort reminds guests that "after hours" use of it requires proper (ergo, quiet) behavior, and from what I've experienced while there and reading here, there haven't been compliance problems with that rule.
