Universal Reduces Hours?

DH & I will be at Universal June 15-19, and when I did my earlier planning and checked park hours, it was 9 -8. I just checked, and it's now closing at 7:00! Did anyone else notice this cut in hours?

I guess I should be glad because that's an indication of lower crowds, but since we're staying at RPR, I wasn't concerned with crowds anyway and really wanted the later evening hours!

Yeah, they've been reducing hours. I said it in another thread a few days ago... I was checking park hours for my trip.. and when I checked again a few hours later, the park was closing an hour earlier.

It sucks but I honestly think we might not know exactly when the parks are closing until closer to the dates or maybe even the day of.

How funny, when I first looked at my dates June 14-18 the hrs posted had the parks closing at 6pm and now its 7. Who knows? With FOTL we will get what we want to get done 10 times over so no worries.

There seems to be a lot of dissers going to RPR that week in June. We will be there the 15-20 of June. I don't mind the 7pm closing but I will miss seeing the parks at night. I always seem to enjoy the rides more at night.

I would not worry about reduced hours you see online...the system the does the hours has been a little grumpy and has been randomly generating hours. As far as recently, Universal has been extending hours.

Well there goes my brilliant plan to go to US at 6 one night to avoid the parking fee and go to the park for a couple of hours before we go to the movie. Hopefully it will change before June 1.

That wouldn't have worked anyway as Universal charges to park after 6pm now...the parking charge is $3.00 after 6pm for everyone except Preferred and Premier passholders.

Yes, we saw that when we were there for Mardi Gras. Even though we are PAP holders and don't pay anyway I thought that was a crummy way to earn a few extra $$.

When I was there last November, certain areas (E.T, barney, Curious George/Fiefel Land) opened later than the rest of the park, along with a few of the other rides. It sure made planning the day difficult due the the closed areas being spread out across several areas.

They are showing closing as early as 6:00 the last week of May...
Sunset is not until after 7:30.
That just seems odd/lame to me.

Is this right, or can we not go by that web-page at all???

Also, is there any way to know which areas do not open until an hour or two after park opening????? I would hate to head in one direction to find out it is closed.

This certainly does stink! We are heading to WDW in early May and was hoping to hop over to US and IOA during the late afternoon/evening but they are closing so early!!! It's crazy!

Keep in mind that many graduation events are right around the corner. They need to close the parks early on those nights (end of April and beggining of May) in preparation for said events.

You should be able to trust the website but it always says in small letters that operating hours are subject to change.
