Universal Questions for Upcoming Trip

Hi,
Thanks in advance for anyone that takes the time to answer. We're planning a trip back to Orlando in late October. I haven't been to Universal since probably 1999. Last year we did an all-Disney trip. We're thinking of adding one day of Universal this trip. Questions:

1) Do they have a Fast-Pass-type system like Disney does?
2) Do they have child swap options? How does that work? One parent stands in line and then comes out and gives a ticket to the other parent?
3) Which park is best for a 4 year old? We're thinking Universal Studios over the Islands of Adventure because he's a big Barney fan and he'd also love meeting Shrek and Alex the Lion and they are all at the Studios.
4) If you're staying at a Disney resort, how do you get there? Cab? We'll be at POP with no car.

Thanks! Any advice appreciated. :)

no fast pass like disney.
UO has the express pass plus for a charge per person. you can go to the express line once for each ride and attraction.

if you are going late october i hope you are aware that HHN is happening then. i suggest you go on weekdays and stay away on weekends on hhn event days. parks will close early when hhn is going on that night. IOA closes at 5 and studios at 6

you can take mears for round trip of $14 a head to and from pop
you will be picked up in front of your hotel. they have two time periods each way you can book.

forgot your other questions

There IS an express pass system like Disney where you scan your entrance ticket. You can get one pass at a time like Disney and must wait to get a second one. You may also buy an Express Pass Plus which gives you an express pass for each ride without the wait, but unless you are going during a busy time, I don't think they are worth the price. If you stay on property with a Universal hotel, you get express pass with just your hotel room key...quite a perk, but the hotel cost per night is pretty pricey.

This has been discontinued. The only express systems available now are for those staying onsite or purchasing the express plus pass.

Wow, we were just there not that long ago. So sorry to mis-inform. Thanks for correcting. We're staying onsite this next time so I'm glad they are still doing FOTL for that.
