My BF and I (21 and 21) are staying at the contemporary for 6 nights in August. We have unlimited passes to Universal for the week as well...

I havent been to Universal in YEARS and dont remember, how many days are suggested to spend in Universals two parks? Also... whats the best way to get to and from the parks from WDW... is taxi the only way and how much will it cost?

THANKS!

You can do Universal in two days, if you are that dedicated. If you are roller coaster freaks, consider 3 days.

One thing to think about is their express pass - it gives you one 'fastpass' to each ride (use it wisely to get the most from your trip) - we just used them over Easter and everyone got to do everything they wanted to in two days (with the exception of the two water rides because it was way tooo cold when we were there). Not cheap at $40 for one park, but worth it if you have limited time. Passes are limited in number so could sell out - get yours early.

As far as travelling there from a Disney park - I am not sure. We always stay off-site and hire a car. Disney want to keep you on property so probably don't provide a shuttle to their competitiors. I would guess Taxi or rental car are your best options. Parking at Universal was $10 per day or $15 for preferred parking. To get an idea of taxi rates, I would suggest googling "Mears Taxi" - they have an online rate estimator - useful for getting an idea of rates.

Enjoy your trip

thanks! can you buy those express passes ahead of time or do u get them the day you go to the parks?

We got them the day we went to the parks - which was Easter weeks. If you google Universal Orlando you can see if they do the passes online (which I think I saw...)

Get to the parks early - for opening time - you will get on a host of rides before most of the people arrive at the parks.

There is one 'kiddie' ride at Islands of adventure which is fun, but doesn't have an express line Pteranadon Flyers and is a slow loader - if you want to try this ride - go there FIRST (and I do mean first) it loads two people at a time and wait times can quickly grow to 45 mins. (My 2yo DD rode it this time!!) From there you can head to the big Duelling Dragons ride and do that several times :-)
