I am currently looking for the best hotel using the Universal Website, and a survey pops up! I usually do surveys just because I am flattered by being asked (crazy I know!)

anyway it pops up with:
'Did you know -- before you started this survey -- that the Universal Orlando theme parks are NOT in any way affiliated with Walt Disney World?'

then it asks me:

'Did you know -- before you started this survey today -- that Disney tickets cannot be used to gain admission to the Universal Studios theme parks?'

:rotfl:

Maybe they have had a lot of people confused or complaining, but it gave me a chuckle!

I hope it does for you too!

For us, it's a silly question, but I don't doubt that there are countless others who do believe WDW and Universal are related.

As it was, when I worked for The Disney Store in the mid 1990s, the store next to us was the Warner Bros Store. It was normal to hear, "Do you have Tweety slippers?" And we'd just tell them that they would find all the Looney Tunes character items "next door".

A lot of people don't know that Universal isn't Disney. More common than you'd think.

The questions made me laugh too, but it's not that weird, I cannot tell you how many people think Universal is party of Disney. I hear it all the time when someone asks me for trip planning help.

Oh I can completely comprehend that people don't know, but I can't stop imagining people turning up to the gates of Universal with Disney tickets! The poor staff who have to deal with that!!

Not all people in the world choose to be as informed about Orlando as we are! ;)

They also asked if I considered my holiday to be a 'Orlando' or 'Disney' one... well we call it 'the big Disney holiday' in our house, although now I feel bad for Universal!

My eldest son now 15 but this incident was a couple years ago recounted a story that he still laughs about. His friends and aquaintaces kniw that we are a Disney family. One day one of his classmates comes up to him after a school break and excitedly recounts his experiences and all the rides he loved at Disney World. After the kid finally finished, still excited to share it all with my son, DS looks at him and says "you didn't go to Walt Disney World, You went to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure"....

Although I totally understand what you are getting at....With the Disney and Marvel connection we could say Islands of Adventure (Universal Orlando) does have a connection with the Walt Disney company.

Oh totally! There are plenty of similarities for it to be easy for those not as obsessed as we all are to get confused! ;)

I just can't stop picturing the look on the face of a new employee at the Universal entrance, when some disgruntled guests shove pieces of cardboard with mickey on the front at them whilst shouting 'let me in!!'

I know it is horrible to mock the misinformed, but it seems like such a comical scene...

I can't tell you the number of times the people I have dealt with assume that Universal and WDW are side by side.

That is so funny!! For someone who has been to Disney Several times, lol! But I guess if you have never been or not often you could think that :)

Enjoy!:goodvibes and please keep us update of your trip planning!

It's horrid weather here too, snow is about to reach knee height anytime now!

Best of luck on the exams! I am meant to be doing coursework, but the temptation of more planning is too much! I still have ADR's to book!

I hope your cold feels better soon, I have a sore throat (neither of us are that well are we?) so I feel your pain!

I will keep you up to date with my plans, my spreadsheet is looking better and better! (less stuff in red to organise!)

Well that is my bubble burst. I thought Universal owned Disney ;)
