Had a couple of questions for the Universal fans:

I am spending a week at Disney the second week of May and am considering a day at Universal. It would be me, my DH, and my DD who is 5.

1. How does the Mears shuttle work? I found prices, but am unsure of times and if they pick you up at your resort. We're staying at the Wilderness Lodge.
2. Can I do both parks in 1 day if we don't ride the rides my daughter can't go on? That would eliminate some of the headliners like the Mummy, MIB, etc.
3. How likely is it that Harry Potter will be open?

Trying to decide if it's worth the time and money...

Thanks!!!
Kristi

Given your daughters age I would say just save universal for the future. They have not given a solid opening day for Harry Potter yet so can't count on it yet.

Disney will be more than enough to keep her occupied and save the cost of tickets to use in disney

There are some kids things at universal but the park is defiantly more for older kids and adults. If you still want a day look at the website and see which park as more to offer for her. a multi park ticket may not be needed.

one of my sons was 6 the first time i took him to universal.
he loved it !!

the mears shuttle is $18 per adult rt.
children fares are less.

you sign up for the universal mears shuttle in your disney hotel lobby at the concierge desk the night before.

you pick the times you want to travel.

the shuttle will go to more than one resort for pick ups.
some peeps say give your self an hour for the travel from your pick up time to the drop off time at universal.

if the shuttle bus is full with just your resort, then you would be at universal in well less than an hour time period.

you will find many things for your 5 year old to enjoy at UO.
the studio side would be a great place to start.

at IOA, you will have other sections that young children will enjoy.

Our 7 year old daughter who whims out of Pirates of the Caribbean as being to extreme loved USF and IOA. Suess land in particular was a favourite :)

There's plenty for kids at Universal. Seuss Landing is fantastic, and just as good as anything at WDW. The Cat in the Hat ride, Seuss Trolley, CaroSeussel, and If I ran the Zoo play area will keep them busy. There's also Barney, Curious George play area, E.T., Woody Woodpecker coaster, the animal show, and Feivel's Playland. Jimmy Newtron and Shrek are also good for kids. We love WDW, but always include some time at Universal.
