This is just a hypothetical question. Would you rather go to Universal Studios or to Animal Kingdom?

Talk about "Apples-to-Oranges" comparision.

Like asking if you would rather own a lantern or a parrot.

I would have to agree.

I think it is a fair poll -- I would rather own a lantern.

Although its apples to oranges, I'd pick Animal Kingdom for sure.

We actually had to make this decision on the vacation we are planning in May. Sat down with DH, DS10 and DS5 to discuss last month. Although we all like AK, it was a unanimous vote for Universal.

I voted for Universal vs. Animal Kingdom. The reason is that even though I think AK is a wonderful, beautiful and interesting park it doesn't have a sufficient return for the energy expended.

As beautiful as it is it is a stifling place to be on a warm day. The excessive foliage prevents any breeze from reaching you and you walk and walk and walk some more with nothing new to see. If you see one sleeping tiger you basically have seen them all.

Universal is entertaining and fun and open. Sorry, I really do love Disney but AK just doesn't do it for me.

:rolleyes1

Me too. You don't have to feed a lantern. Or clean lantern droppings up. And your lantern will never fly into the ceiling fan, lose it's eye doing so and leave you with a half blind latern.

I picked AK by the way.

Animal Kingdom is my second favorite park. I love it. Its an easier, peaceful pace and lots of places to have some stolen magical moments.
Like my son and I were waiting for DH and DS8 and we were able to take the time and watch two ducks by a waterfall bobbin their heads in the water. Stolen moments

If you're talking about spending the entire day at one of the 2 parks, I would pick Universal. I'm starting to get more into AK with Everest opening recently but if I had to spend the whole day at one of the two, there's more at Universal!

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

We go to Universal about once every decade, and it's more than enough for us. Every time we are there (or, even worse, at a local amusement park) we just keep thinking "I wish I was at Disney," so that's where we choose to spend our time and $$.

I think the poll is fair and I chose Universal. AK is great, but I would much rather spend my whole day at Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure.

We like AK over Universal. We find enough to do in AK to have a blast all day and don't really need all the roller coasters.

This is a great question. We had to go with Animal Kingdom. I think mostly because it is Disney and they have Expedition Everest which is a great ride. However, Islands of Adventure at Universal has better rides.

I would definitely choose Universal over AK. Nothing beats BTTF and Jaws :cool1: Although I do miss King Kong. That was a cool ride

I wonder what the result would be if you posted this question on the Universal board? It's Animal Kingdom all the way for this family. In fact, if we were to go anywhere other than WDW while in Orlando, our choice would be SeaWorld.

I chose AK because I like it better than US. If you had asked AK or IOA, I would have chosen IOA. US is good if you've never been, but I can't imagine wanting to go repeatedly. My children liked IOA and AK equally, but since we go in August, the water attractions at IOA are better.

Wow -- excellent post. I've always had a tough time trying to explain my ho-hum attitude toward AK, and you just encapsulated it. It's one of the few instances in which I think the Imagineers miscalculated.

As much as I love AK, I have to pick Universal. There are a lot more rides and not as much walking. When we go down to Florida, we always hit both!!!

Ever try to walk around with a lantern on your shoulder? Can't teach a lantern to pull a cork out of a bottle of wine either...
