Universal opening new water park in 2017

Do many former Disney employees work over at Universal? I know 2 myself-although just entry type jobs. Always wondered about the upper level positions as well.

Both companies have swapped imagineers essentially. Some have gone from Disney to universal and some have gone from universal to Disney.

I think that Universal is adding more experiences and good experiences at a time when it seems like Disney is just dragging their feet.

May I also add that there are times during the year when quite frankly you don't need an express pass.
We've been often as offsite visitors and have yet to buy an Express pass. I wouldn't hesitate to get one if we needed it so it's nice to know that it's there.

And they say that a lot of CM's and TM's work at both places which is interesting.

1. This looks awesome! I love what UO has been doing. We really enjoyed our last visit and hope to spend more and more time there as our kids get older.

2. Either certain people are just obsessed with creating some kind of WDW/UO death-match or they just have a distorted view of how increased attendance at UO really affects WDW. Since the UO boom around 2010 there has been ZERO indication that the "competition" has hurt WDW in any discernible manner. The numbers suggest the exact opposite. This really is not a zero-sum game even if certain people really, really want to push it as that.

(As has been stated numerous times before...anecdotes from people who have visited WDW 10+ times are not indicative whatsoever of general trends)

3. IMO Orlando is continuing to strengthen itself as one of the best vacation destinations in the country (possibly the world)

You'd be surprised at how many character 'friends' (princesses especially) are the same people scaring you at HHN.

Navydad,

I just want to compliment you on #2...it's the most important fact about Orlando that hardly anyone takes into account.

The way to get Disney to "step up" is to vote with your wallet...
Comcast helps a little...but you have the power.

Perhaps because minimum wage (or anything close to it) doesn't meet the definition of "minimum"?

I guess for us the lines have been blurred enough that both companies have former employees, to the point of who cares what the other is doing? Disney (former?) employees are now designing/building/working at US/IOA-that's great for all of us IMO. More jobs/opportunities for them and more billions spent on us visitors, for more options minutes away. If it leads to "counter" building at WDW-even better. But I feel sorry for anyone not taking advantage a day or 2 (or more) at US/IOA (you are also supporting many former Disney employees) or reverse even. ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY.

Really?? I would think that would not be allowed?

There's no way to track it...and rank and file employees know NOTHING about information anywhere close to bordering on strategic...

That's why anytime somebody says "I spoke to a cm"...and it's about something that isn't general knowledge...the house says to reject it outright.

Oh, well ok. As long as neither park cares, good for them! Interesting.

I don't see why anyone would pick a vacation location based on a water park. Water parks are a throw in on vacation. I do go to Blizzard Beach but only because I have a yearly pass at WDW. If I didn't have the pass and stayed at a hotel, I would use the hotel pool and never pay to use a special water park. As for determining if its worth going to Universal, they will have to offer a great deal to get me to spend extra money to go there. I go to WDW 3 times a year. I have and will always have a yearly pass. Therefore giving a day up at WDW and going Universal will cost hundreds of dollars. I can't see wasting my time unless I had a park to park pass so I could ride HE and for two days would cost my wife and I well over $500.00. Why spend the money. We don't do many rides and love the shows. Our favorite parks are AK and Epcot. It just costs me too much to even consider Universal until I get a great deal on the tickets.
cool, but you are an outlier , most people don't purchase annual passes and I know my family decided our last Disney trip based on the 10 day pass that for $50 bucks added I think 4 or maybe 5 waterpark days... without that we may have gone to Universal instead...

Universal already owns a water park it's called wet n wild

I just think the Polynesian theme may go over real well. Imagine if Disney did a water park to go with the Poly.
