Worth it or not?

Sending my DH and DS to US in Oct. They will be going for two days. I saw on the Universal website there is a meal deal I can purchase one park/one day for $20/adult $10/child. Can someone explain it more to me and if it is a good plan for my boys. Thanks!

They would have to eat a lot in a single day to make it worth it. There are only three restaurants in each park on the meal deal and they are limited in their choices. The food is pretty good but standard theme park fare. If they like to eat, then it might be a good value for them.

I agree with Metro. You have to put alot of food down to get your money's worth!!

I'm a big man, with that bieng said when I do the parks I dont eat that much at all. When the day is over then I'm ready to eat.

Also the restraunts at US are very resonably priced!!

IMO only

Metro got me hooked on Thunder Falls at IOA.You can get the rottis chicken and rib platter with a drink for around $15.This will fill me up and its GOOOD!!:thumbsup2
Just thought I tell you that for comparing prices..

Thank you so much for all your replies and for saving me some dough! My DS is NOT a big eater at all. The meal he does best at is breakfast and it goes downhill from there. DH has a HUGE appetite, but only eats one big meal a day and then snacks. The meal deal would probably not end up being a good deal at all.

Thanks!

If you get the meal deal, must you choose the same restaurant all day? I read that it's for lunch through dinner. How early may one eat lunch under the plan?

No...you don't have to stay at the same restaurant but there are only three places in each park that are on the meal deal. You can eat lunch as soon as the restaurants start serving...usually around 11am I think.

we absolutely hated the meal deal. you have a very limited choice about what you can order, so you end up eating the exact same food over and over again. different restaurants but the same food.

On the flip side, my husband loved it! My daughters and I didn't get the deal because we knew we couldn't get our money's worth but he sure did! Ate so much he almost made us sick to watch him. If you like pizza and burgers in mass quantities then you should go for it. But know this - drinks aren't included and if you are there in the winter the parks close early so you have less time to eat.
Now, show me a Drink Deal for adult beverages and you can sign me up!:goodvibes

I second Thunder Falls, it's a great place to eat. When we went in July, I found it just by coincidence. It was empty. It was a beautiful dinosaur themed restaurant right next to the drop/splash area of Jurrasic Park River Adventure and the food was great. We ended up staying there longer after we finished eating because it was nice and cool in there and comfy.

Meal deal not worth it...Not only do you have to squeeze in three meals to really feel like you benefited, you also have to pick from arguably the worst quality food in the park. On top of all that, usually the most crowded as well. At least, this was my experience the one and only time I tried it.
