Universal loves to nickel and dime their guests don't they

They should just refund the parking fee. I paid for parking with my Disney AP the first time and asked for a credit when I picked the AP up and they did it. I think I was staying onsite when I first got Universal APs, so I didn't have to worry about it. But there's really no reason to not refund the fee. You paid for the perk, you should get the perk. I realize it says right there on the page it doesn't kick in until after the first visit, but that's a silly policy.

The worse policy is the AP replacement. My friend lost his AP and had to get a new one. They said the next one is a $10 fee (or something). I said "even if he loses it in ten years, he doesn't get another free one?" Nope. Now THAT is silly nickle and dime crap. Just replace the stupid thing or make it more than once per year. I've never lost my AP, but if I ever had to pay that fee, I'd probably just cancel it. Poor customer service.
This one surprises me, based on the fact that when my dd lost her wallet, Universal replaced her pass no problem, and same when my pass was damaged. The ONLY park that has ever charged me for a replacement AP was Seaworld. (I think it was $2 or something)

We had to replace a lost pass at Universal once and got charged $10,it was however when AP's had your picture on a plastic card so I don't know if that had to do with it.

Universals policy for lost passes are first is free second or more is 10. I had that argument with them because the barcode on mine was smudged and didn't work. This was after I had it reprinted once in less then a year. They couldn't find where the scan failed so they charged me 10 for it. Apparently the common sense of the bar code being smudged and not reading at all escaped them.

I still have one of those plastic passes with my picture on it,it's like 10 years old and started cracking a couple of months ago so I put some scotch tape around it.On my last visit I wanted to get to the Transformers line as early as possible so I didn't go to guest services to change it,I went to the turnstile not knowing if it would scan,it didn't work right away but it did scan.My question is if I go on my next trip to guest services to exchange the pass, they're not going to charge me to exchange it are they???They better not,it's cracking and got scotch tape around it because it's 10+ years old. Also would they let me keep the old one as a keepsake if they give me a new paper one.

you won't be charged if you replace your plastic ap card for the tyvek ap.

my ap card is the plastic one, have had it since 2003.

had trouble with it scanning last year and was told if that continued each time i went to the park, i would need to have it replaced with the tyvek one.
i was told that there would be no charge to do so.

not going that route.
the plastic one with my picture on it fits in the lanyard quite well.

i don't see why they wouldn't let you keep the plastic ap once you switched to the tyvek one.
