How does it work? We are looking at spending a night at a universal hotel

How does the front of line access work? So if we check in at 8am do we get early access and passes for that day and the next ?

How does the front of line access work?

for almost every ride (except Forbidden Journey) there are 2 or 3 different entrances for the ride.
- Standby
- Single Rider (not all ridesà
- Express

the FOTL (unlimited express) you get for staying at a Universal Hotel (NOT Cabana Bay, only the top 3 hotels) will give you access to the "express" line.
A Team Member will scan your Pass at the entrance, and then again at the point where the Express and Standby line merge.

This works basically as a Fastpass, except that it's often much faster (thankfully as you're "paying" for this FOTL pass)
The wait is really minimal, and at some rides you don't even merge with the regular standby line, you just board the vehicle. It's basically walk on for every ride, except those that work with "shows" where you will have to wait for the previous show to end before you're allowed to enter the theatre.

be advised that at many rides you bypass the preshow.
for example, at Spiderman, you don't get to do the Daily Buggle photograph if you ride Express, you need to ride Standby to enter that "office" and take the picture

So if we check in at 8am do we get early access and passes for that day and the next ?

yes. As long as you have park tickets for both days. You'll get Unlimited express for both days no matter what, but they won't do no good if you can't enter the parks :) those are not tickets.

Fab :-) i have tickets already but mum is huge harry potter fan so dad and i thought be nice to surpirse her with a stay here for the early entry and expess passes but we have only ever stayed onsite at disney so wasnt sure how it allworked :-)

Let me emphasize the Forbidden Journey (Harry Potter) does not offer an Express line. It's only standby

so far we don't know what will go about Diagon Alley, the Harry Potter expansion due to open in the summer at the Studios (you'll need park to park tickets to do both and ride the Hogwarts Express)
it is unknwown if Diagon Alley will offer Early entry too, or if Escape from Gringott's will be on the Unlimited Express (I guess it won't)

We are hoping to book a couple of nights at HRH too. Looks like as the FOLP will be invaluable.:thumbsup2

We have spent one night at universal hotel for the last two years. We don't bother to check out of our main hotel but this still works out a lot cheaper than buying express pass. Last year we got to the hotel at 6.30. Checked in. Our rooms were ready but we went straight to Harry Potter and took we were out of the ride by about 7.30. Could have ridden again but my nieces wanted to go on the little roller coaster. Stayed all day then back to hotel for a swim. I dropped my husband back at Bonnet Creek. Next morning up early and straight to the a Studios to go to transformers and Despicable me. Husband came back to meet us later on. Spent all day again and we were truly exhausted but I think we got on everything.. It was expensive last year. £215 for one night at Royal Pacific on 25th Julu. Staying on 20th August this year so £150 with £15 cash back so £135 which is definitely worth it. Hotel cannot compare to bonnet creek, rooms tiny in comparison but I honestly wouldn't attempt Universal in the summer without express. Thankfully when we go this year parks open at 8, thought 7 was just too early! We will probably do both mornings at the studios and really hope we can get on the train on the second day. We will also go back right at the end of holiday when hopefully queues won't be as bad for the other rides. I love that they have a lot of single rider lines there.

Who did you book with and what date please? £150 is a great price!

Thanks

Thanks

I booked via Thomas Cook for 19th or 20th August ( can't remember without my itinerary in front of me!) saw it as low as £147 for my dates but went up £3 by the time I decided to book.
I know it will still be busy because of new HP ride but with early entry should be fine.

Thank you!

I'm looking to book Thursday 21st Aug and that's £152 with Thomas Cook.

I know it will be busy but I need to see the new HP!

I booked through them recently but cashback hasn't tracked so don't count on it .... Think it was supposed to be 5%

I will defo check quidco before booking.

I hate is when cashback doesn't track. It's happened to us quite a few times. It's usually resolved via a missing cashback claim but it takes a while.

I've got 2 in right now, one with VH for car hire, the other with Thomas Cook for the hotel
