Universal Halloween Party

I have an 11 and 13 year old and we are planning a trip in October. Would the Universal party be to scary for them? Are the Universal rides even open during the party? We have been to the Mickey’s not so scary party and loved it. Help me decide to try something new or do another MICKEY party. This trip we will only be staying at Portofino Hotel.

Hard to say if it would be appropriate for your kids, but it will be NOTHING like Mickey's party. And I do mean NOTHING.

I think they recommend a starting age of 14, but I don't think they turn younger kids away.

I really suggest you look at some youtube videos to get an idea of what to expect.

Under 13, Halloween Horror Nights is not recommended. Many rides are open but be aware that there are "Scare Zones" all around the park. If your boys enjoy the Horror Genre and are not easily frightened, then maybe this is an option. My DH has loved the classic Horror films pretty much since they began when he was 11. If they really enjoyed the Disney version, I don't know if this is what they would have in mind.

I would definitely look at some YouTube videos - The Tim Tracker has some good ones -

Whether or not it is right for your kids is going to be a very personal decision - for example, I would NEVER take my 14 year old there - she does not like jump scares at ALL and would probably be in tears! For other kids, it might be great fun.
