Universal GC

Before our trip I found Universal Orlando GC at the grocery store when I was buying my Disney one. At Disney the gc is taken like a cc at all registers. In Universal you have to go to GS and have it exchanged for Universal Dollars. I had $100 in gc and got 10 $10 UD. It was okay to get the UD but I like the convenience of the gc. I was disappointed that it is not accepted at the registers.

Just wanted to share in case anyone else had the same idea.

Thanks for the info. We are hoping to get to US soon, possibly this summer. This would be our first trip.

I saw the gift cards at my local grocery and was hoping they worked like the Disney GCs. Do you know, despite the inconvenience of exchanging the cards for Universal dollars, if they can be used to pay for the balance on a Universal Resort hotel?

Yeah...the gift cards at Universal are a pain that's why it's usually recommended to get a VISA or AMEX gift card that can be used at the stores and restaurants.
