Hi Guys:wave2:,

Just wondering if you could help me out? We are planning a trip to Universal during our upcoming WDW holiday. We have never been to Universal before, so I'm after some advice on the must see attractions that will suit us.

We are Me, DH, DS (6) and DD (3). Me and DH aren't worried about doing Harry Potter or any of the big rides this time - we're happy to wait until our children are older. DS isn't a big thrill seeker at the moment. He's happier playing on the rides for the smaller children.

We are hoping to have 1 or 2 days available for Universal. We're staying in SSR and will have our own car to drive to and from Universal. Oh, and we're visiting in October.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I know Disney, but feeling totally out of my depth with Universal!

Thanks in advance!pixiedust:

I'm sure your kids will love the Seuss area, discovery center, and maybe Spider-Man at islands. There are some shows too they might enjoy. Be sure to watch for characters too. At universal, shriek, despicable me, woody kid zone, maybe MIB, Simpsons area, and some shows. There will be plenty to keep you busy.

We haven't taken our kids yet as we don't feel there is enough to keep them interested. Our next trip our son will be 7 and a half and think he will get something more out of it. If all they are doing is walking around they will get bored as we found out a few times when WDW got too busy during Thanksgiving week. I'm not sure when the right age is to take a younger child there, but I think it depends on your own kids. No real right or wrong answer. I personally love both parks and won't go to Florida without hitting them, but there just hasn't been enough for us to take him to see it. Until next time which should be great.

I'm wondering about this too. My kids will be 5.5, nearly 3, and a baby. DH and I would love to see the Harry Potter area, but it's not worth it to buy tickets and get ourselves over there if there isn't much for our non-adventurous kids to do. While DD will be tall enough for a lot, she won't ride anything fast or potentially scary, hates loud noises (so no loud shows), and DS is even more chicken butt than she is. And of course, having a baby along is its own challenge. Decisions, decisions...

diseymotts, stay away from the weekend, fri,sa,sun due to HHN.
the hhn event brings in the crowds.

studios will close at 5:00 on the dates hhn will happen.
ioa should close at 7:00 pm.

checkout www.universalorlando.com and read up on the rides/attractions and shows.
there is also a section for families with littles in the parks.

animal actor show is delightful for all ages.
this is located in the studios.
the Barney section near by it entertains littles for hours.

you'll find out there will be things for the kids to do in the parks.

I would say that at IoA you could do Spider-man and all three water rides with a 6 year old no problem (depending on 3 year olds high they might do one or two of those as well). Then you have the Kiddy rides in Jurassic Park area, 3 rides in Dr Susse area and Flight of the Hippogriff in the HP area that are good for both your kids.

Over in US you only have two rides that area no go for your kids based heights (unless your breeding the next race of giants). Rip ride rocket is 51' and Mummy is 48' to ride. Everything else is 42' and less with a lot being 36'

Definitely dr seuss area at IOA. Look at height requirements. My kids are shorties so we have to bypass lots. My kids could walk around all day never get bored. I enjoy universal because we can experience things at a slower pace than Disney. My DS3 will laugh his butt off at other people riding rides but won't try it himself. Universal is great for rider swap so you can try things too. Enjoy.

We took our Dd at age 9.She is extremely timid and short , didnt ride alot and STILL had a blast. But I will tell you that even the seeminlgy benign stuff can be scary...Very loud and very in your face
