Hi, We have been to Disney many, many times. I know alot of the ins & outs of discounts, codes etc. for disney. For Universal I know absolutely nothing. We would like to go to Universal Nov.3-Nov.8. I hear the Hard Rock Hotel is very nice. We would need 2 rooms, and would like pool view. Are there any discount codes or any discounts like they have at disney. Park tickets is another thing I know nothing about. Can you see the parks in 2-3 days. We really like hanging out at the resorts so we wouldn't like tickets for all 5 days. Any and all help and opinions(good/bad)would help so much. As I said I know absolutely nothing about Universal Parks and shopping and would like to visit.(at the right price,of course). Please help.....Thanks so much

Hi and WELCOME, dg39:

This board is a hotbed of information. If you want MORE information than you'll ever need about Universal, try Kelly Monaghans book Universal Orlando:
The Ultimate Guide to the Ultimate Theme Park Adventure
which can be checked out on his website www.theotherorlando.com.

As for discounts, the Entertainment rate and AP rate are the best for lower rates on rooms. The Entertainment book can be found at www.entertainment.com. Before you buy it check 1888-UESCAPE and see if the Entertainment rate applies to your dates. The book is loaded with coupons for your area so you can use it year round.

Remember that the ULTIMATE perk, Universal Express, is for every onsite guest and it can be used for the day you check in and the whole day you check out. All three hotels are an experience in themselves so you will enjoy a down day at any of them.

Check the ticket area of the www.universalstudios.com site for tickets. They are offering a 5 day ticket that is $89.95 for adults. A GREAT deal!

Hope that helps! You will get to know just about everything here!

You say you want a pool view room. We have had garden view and pool view and prefer the garden view (not just because it costs less). Not all the "pool views" give a a good view of the pool, however they all give you the sound of the bass from the music at the pool. We just found the garden view room to be more quiet. There are not balconies, so it's not like you'll be sitting outside looking at the pool.
The five day bonus ticket is a great deal, since it costs as much or less than a two day ticket.
In addition to the Enterainmnet discount and AP discount, they also offer a Fan Club discount.

DG39, I'm in the same boat as you. I am a BIG Disney fan and easily understand everything about Disney. Unfortunately, I think my family is looking for something different for next year. (we visit the in-laws every year and always tack on a family vacation after the in-law vacation). We just got back from Disney last week. I don't know why but Universal never crossed my mind until today. Boy, I feel like such a newbie reading about Universal. But, I must say, I'm kinda getting excited thinking about all the research and planning I get to do again. I guess I'll be lurking around here now too.
