Universal: Dec 5 - 7, 2008

Hello,
DW and I are planning on going to Universal for a couple of days before staying at SSR. Can anyone fill me in on the following:

1) The Lowes Hotels: Portofino, Hard Rock or Royal Pacific. Are any better then the others? Can you walk to the entrance from one better then the others?

2) Does Universal do anything for Christmas that I should be aware of?

3) I know it's a weekend so I'm sure there will be other folks there, but will it be "manageable" that weekend much like Disney is that time of year?

Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks!

What a great time to go. The Christmas decorations are up but the crowds are non existent. Hard Rock is the closest with a walk of about 5 minutes to the gates. Royal Pacific is about 8 and Portofino is about 15 or shorter if you do the short cut. Grinchmas is on at IOA and the Macy's Parade is on at Universal Studios.

You should experience very low crowds that time of year. We were there around the 18th-20th, and there were very few people there.

We like the Hard Rock because it's the closest to the parks, but I like Royal Pacific as well.
