I understand we go to the ride for a time, then come back to use the express line.

Questions:
Is it like DAS, where you can come anytime after that time? If the standby line is 2 hrs, then the express line could still be an hour wait - which is going to be too long for the child with the pass. Ideally 30 min or less especially if it an enclosed crowded queue like Gringgotts

We do have Express Passes through our hotel, so won't need for rides that do have that line, unless there is something I'm missing

So the main ride we'd probably use it on, is Hagrids that doesn't have express line - so where do you go, if there isn't an express line?

Yes, we go to ride, they write down a return time, and you come back anytime after that.

Yes you go through the "Express" lane and wait that time. There are two lines at the entrance.

Hagrids does have an "extra" lane that I assume was set up for Express some day. You are sent in to that and there will be an additional wait and there has always been people in that line with us. You get to a point where they check your card & scan it and then you are merged into the regular line. That is inside and dark. I feel like that wait wasn't bad but we still waited more. I saw one pass user reported from entering to ride completion was 1 hour with the pass, we have not waited quite that long.

NOTE: You will not be able to see any of the line from outside. Perhaps the TM can tell you how long the wait currently is in the "express" lane.
