Universal AP Parking discount

We bought Preferred AP's for Universal, and some of the perks revolve around parking. Specifically, I understand the following is true:

Free self-parking each time you visit

Or pay for 2 hours of Valet and get the rest of the day for free.

Or $4.00 preferred parking.

The first is self-explanatory. Anyone know how much valet parking is per hour? I assume this is very convenient.

And how about the preferred parking? Is it worth it to pay the $4 or should we just take the free general parking?


I welcome anyone's input on any of the options.

Can't answer for the valet parking...never done it.. I myself do not use the preferred parking... my sister & a friend of mine do. They seem to like it. However, if you arrive early, you should get decent parking anyway.

The thing about the Preferred parking is that it puts you right on the 3rd level of the parking garage. You will also notice that disabled parking is also in the same area, so you may have to do some hunting for a good space. Since you're on the third level, you won't have to go up or down any stairs. Also, you'll usually end up in Jurassic Park or King Kong, which is closer than Jaws parking. JP is the closest.

With the regular parking, you could end up anywhere in either parking garage. The $4 for preferred parking is a great deal, but I'd rather use that $4 in the park for a snack, IMO.

Thanks for the responses. We probably wouldn't be able to arrive at the parks early in the morning, so maybe we'll try preferred parking one day and see if it seems like it's worth it.

I just know that is a HUGE parking garage and $4 seems like a pretty good price to me.

We have found the preferred parking to be worthless. Even on the preferred level, we have been directed to park way out in a far corner.

The ONLY thing preferred parking guarantees you is to not have to take an escalator ride.

The first 3-4 times we used preferred and thought - this is ridiculous. From then on, we've done regular.

For $4.00, I'll ride the escalator.

We do the valet almost everytime. I'm sorry but I can't remember how much it is. DH usually pays it while the girls and I sit on the bench worn out.

Maybe $8.00? It's worth every penny, IMO, when leaving the park with grouchy tired kids and DH . It's the closest parking you can get, and right near the entrance to CitiWalk.

I agree that the preferred parking is pretty much worthless. If you get there early enough, you'll be just as close in regular parking.

More great input! I think our plan will be to park in regular parking for free (can't beat that!) if we get there fairly early. Otherwise, we might bite the bullet for valet parking if the garage looks loaded up.
